We’re looking for a Gurugram-based proofreader (‘Associate editor’) for a full-time role in our Editorial Integrity team, part of a dynamic company offering great benefits and flexibility.

You’ll work closely with our energy analysts across Asia Pacific and beyond to proof their reports so they align with our in-house style guide and tone of voice, feedback to authors so they know how to improve their writing and deliver writing training across the organisation.

Our aim is for our reports and client deliverables – which cover the energy spectrum, from renewables to mining and metals, oil and gas to petchems – to be as clear, accessible and engaging as possible. We take quality seriously, and that’s where you step in.

About you and how you can excel in this role: You’ll understand how proofing works, know what good writing looks like and have great ideas about how we can help analysts to keep improving with each report they write.

About the role: The Associate Editor position is part of Editorial Integrity. Our objective is to provide our analysts with the training, resources and proofreading services they need to produce engaging and polished reports for our clients. You’ll contribute across all three pillars, but particularly in your proofreading capacity, where you’ll be expected to manage your workflow, engage with relevant stakeholders and proofread a steady flow of reports in a timely manner, explaining your amends where relevant so the user learns for next time. You will also help manage the style guide, updating and amending as the need arises, communicate any new guidance or tips and maintain our editorial hub on Sharepoint.

You’ll help to deliver editorial training – short courses in writing, proofing and headlines, for instance – over Teams (and, occasionally, in person) as well as contribute ideas and suggestions for new training where you see a particular need.

You’ll also work closely with a handful of ESL analysts to coach them in regular 121s where needed. And you’ll liaise with line managers to provide guidance on addressing any quality issues.

In short, you’ll be a critical player in helping WoodMac to communicate clearly and professionally with our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Editing: deliver proofreading, apply style rules and ensure consistency to standards and accuracy; identify issues and escalate to editor, manage workload appropriately
  • Standards: support team processes, and help maintain operational excellence. Contribute to updates and maintenance of style guide and flag unclear writing or guidance
  • Training and coaching: supports onboarding initiatives and contributes to maintaining editorial resources and examples. Develops understanding of common writing challenges and editorial coaching approaches through observation and collaboration with the Editor.
  • Collaboration Develop relationships across segments, communicate clearly with analysts and collaborate with stakeholders across the business

Skills and behaviours:

  • Attention to detail and strong command of grammar, style and our expectations
  • Growth mindset and appetite to learn and to contribute, learning approach and techniques from the Editor
  • Comfort in dealing with ambiguity and showing initiative, applying editorial principles to new situations
  • Confidence in communication and contributing ideas, ability to deliver constructive feedback
  • Understanding of energy landscape a bonus but not essential

Impact:

Helping to improve the quality of reports that customers receive and the smooth operation of the team, as evidenced by feedback from analysts, ideas shared around Editorial's operational efficiency and Editor's own review
