At AtkinsRéalis, our Design & Advanced Technology practice brings together some of the UK's most diverse engineering and design expertise to tackle the most complex challenges facing our clients and communities. 

We are looking for a motivated and capable Associate or Associate Director Civil Engineer to join our growing Civil Engineering team, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across major infrastructure, transportation, energy, water, aviation, and development projects.  

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced engineer to apply their expertise on major projects and strategic frameworks, shaping technical solutions, mentoring others, and progressing into senior technical, project, or people leadership roles.

We offer hybrid working which involves 3 days per week being office/site based. This position can be based from any of our major offices of London Nova, Epsom, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, or Glasgow.  It can also be based in our regional offices of Leeds, Newcastle, Peterborough, Exeter, Derby, Cardiff, or Swansea. 

Your role 

The role offers broad project exposure, technical development, and clear opportunities for progression within a collaborative and growing team. 

You will: 

• Oversee the design and delivery of civil engineering solutions across a diverse project portfolio. 

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple disciplines to develop integrated and sustainable outcomes for clients. 

• Support project delivery from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction. 

• Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project partners. 

• Provide guidance and mentoring to developing engineers. 

• Champion innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of new technologies within the business. 

• Help identify opportunities that create additional value for clients and communities. 

About you 

We're interested in people who are technically strong, commercially aware and genuinely enjoy collaborative working. 

You’ll ideally bring: 

• Experience in civil engineering design and project delivery. 

• A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline. 

• Chartered or Incorporated status with Institute of Civil Engineers or an equivalent institution OR extensive experience and the ability to become chartered with the ICE within 12 months.  

• Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments. 

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 

• A passion for solving complex engineering challenges. 

• A commitment to innovation, sustainability and technical excellence.

Security clearance

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
