As an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll be a key leader in driving the success of our store, team, and customer experience. You’ll lead from the floor, build meaningful client relationships, develop and coach the team, and turn our store into a destination for the CALPAK community. Working closely with the Store Manager, you’ll help bring our “Happy Packing” culture to life while driving sales, strengthening clienteling, and creating an exceptional experience for every customer who walks through our doors.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive daily, weekly, and monthly sales by leading from the floor, identifying opportunities, and motivating the team to achieve and exceed sales goals and KPIs.
• Build and grow meaningful client relationships through clienteling, follow-up, personalized recommendations, and exceptional service that keeps customers connected to CALPAK beyond their store visit.
• Lead by example with a strong sales presence, exceptional customer service, deep product knowledge, and a genuine passion for helping customers find the right travel solutions.
• Coach, develop, and inspire the team through real-time feedback, regular one-on-ones, product knowledge, selling strategies, and performance conversations that build confidence and drive results.
• Partner with the Store Manager to set clear sales priorities, identify performance opportunities, and turn store and individual KPIs into actionable strategies.
• Foster a high-energy, collaborative team culture where team selling, clienteling, accountability, and exceptional service are part of the everyday experience.
• Build CALPAK’s presence within the local community by creating meaningful connections, identifying opportunities to engage new and existing customers, and helping make the store a destination for the neighborhood.
• Act as a brand ambassador by staying current on CALPAK products, features, benefits, pricing, promotions, and new launches, and confidently sharing that knowledge with customers and the team.
• Lead manager-on-duty shifts by setting the tone for the store, prioritizing the customer experience, supporting the team, and making thoughtful decisions in real time.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members, helping ensure every new hire understands CALPAK’s brand, selling approach, service expectations, and team culture.
• Maintain a beautiful, welcoming, and shoppable store by holding the team accountable to visual, merchandising, and customer experience standards.
• Support accurate and efficient daily store operations, including Shopify POS transactions, cash handling, inventory accuracy, opening and closing routines, and other store-level processes.

• You have strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills and know how to balance the needs of the customer, team, and business.
• You’re comfortable handling cash transactions, multitasking, and tackling physical retail tasks like standing, lifting, and managing inventory.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
•  2+ years of progressive retail experience, including experience leading or coaching a team.
• Strong sales, customer service, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with clienteling, customer relationship building, or community engagement is a plus. 
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
