Job Description: Assistant Manager – QA/QC (PMC)

Position Overview

The Assistant Manager of QA/QC represents the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) on-site. This role ensures that the general contractor and subcontractors execute all structural, finishing, and MEP works according to approved standard operating procedures, technical specifications, and quality benchmarks. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between engineering standards and on-site execution, focusing on preventive quality control.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Inspection (On-Site)

• Audit Works: Inspect ongoing civil, structural, finishing, and MEP activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings.
• Snagging Management: Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and punch lists to contractors; track rectification progress.
• Pour Clearances: Verify formwork, reinforcement, and embedments before authorizing concrete pours.
• Finishing Excellence: Enforce strict tolerances for commercial finishes (façade, glazing, marble flooring, drywall, false ceilings).

Quality Assurance & Systems

• Document Control: Review and approve the contractor's Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Method Statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
• Material Testing: Oversee field laboratory operations and witness third-party testing for concrete, steel, waterproofing, and finish materials.
• MIP Review: Validate Material Inspection Requests (MIR) against approved mock-ups and technical data sheets before site deployment.

Vendor & Contractor Management

• Mock-up Approvals: Coordinate and approve benchmark mock-ups for critical commercial elements (e.g., washrooms, typical office floors, exterior cladding).
• Performance Tracking: Evaluate contractor QA/QC performance metrics monthly and report system risks to PMC leadership.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Zero Rework: Minimizing post-handover defects through proactive pre-pour and pre-activity checks.
• NCR Closure Rate: Ensuring >90% of non-conformance reports are closed by the contractor within the agreed SLA.
• Audit Readiness: Maintaining 100% up-to-date and traceable quality documentation, test reports, and cube registers.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Degree: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Civil Engineering.
• Experience: 6 to 9 years in construction, with at least 3 years strictly in a QA/QC role for high-end commercial projects (Real Estate or PMC background preferred).

Technical Skills

• Thorough knowledge of local building codes, IS/BS/ASTM standards, and NBC guidelines.
• Expertise in concrete technology, structural steel work, and advanced waterproofing systems.
• Proficiency in reading complex structural, architectural, and MEP coordination drawings.
• Familiarity with quality management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or Novade).

Soft Skills

• Assertive communication to enforce quality standards firmly but diplomatically with contractors.
• Strong analytical skills for root-cause analysis of material or execution failures.
