Position Details

POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of History, Geography, and Legal Studies in the College of Social Sciences, Mathematics and Education at the University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track position in United States and the World History Since 1945 at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2027. The Department welcomes candidates from all specializations within this field, but applications from candidates whose teaching and research includes civil rights, human rights, or social movements are especially desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching three, 4-credit courses per semester, or six per year. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and to engaging students in learning beyond the classroom. Successful candidates must have at least two years of full-time, in-person teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

Applicants will have demonstrated scholarship in their area of expertise. Other responsibilities include student advising, and service to the department, college and University.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in History. (ABD will not be considered.) Applicants must show evidence of outstanding teaching and demonstrate the ability to teach a wide variety of courses that engage History majors as well as general education students. Finally, the candidate must show evidence of an active research agenda, with the potential to involve undergraduate majors in their work.
