Job Description Summary

The Department of Entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University invite applications for an Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship (tenure track) to teach courses in entrepreneurship; maintain an active research program and publish in highly regarded management and entrepreneurship journals; advise students; and provide service to the department, division and University. Appointment begins Fall 2027.

Job Description

We seek an active scholar and passionate educator to publish in top-tier management and entrepreneurship journals, teach high-impact undergraduate courses, mentor students, and contribute to our vibrant campus and regional entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Department of Entrepreneurship combines top-tier academic scholarship and rigorous empirical research with practice-based learning across several core pillars: startup and venture capital, social entrepreneurship and impact investing, corporate innovation, technology commercialization, and entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Broad Impact: Interdisciplinary curriculum engaging students from every undergraduate major across campus, integrated deeply with local and national ecosystem builders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or a closely related field by date of appointment for appointment as Assistant Professor. ABDs may apply, but all degree requirements must be completed by the date of appointment (doctorate must be awarded by December 31, 2027, for appointment to the second year). Demonstrated commitment to instructional excellence and evidence of high-quality undergraduate teaching effectiveness.

Research Interests & Streams: We welcome scholars across various research streams in entrepreneurship and innovation. Consideration will be given to candidates with established research record in one of the following areas:

  • Social or environmental issues in entrepreneurship.
  • The impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on venture creation.
  • Entrepreneurial finance.
  • Entrepreneurial ecosystems, economic development, or hybrid organizations.

Consideration will be given to candidates with a promising research pipeline targeted at leading management and entrepreneurship journals, backed by a strong foundation in empirical research (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods).
