About this Assistant or Associate Professor - School of Education (Tenure-Track) role at Abilene Christian University

The School of Education at Abilene Christian University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Education. This full-time, 9-month appointment will begin August 2027. We seek a colleague who can help prepare effective educators, collaborate with colleagues in the department, foster strong relationships with schools and classroom teachers, and who demonstrates strong potential for continued scholarship and professional service in the field of education.
Our new colleague will join a committed and collaborative community of educators and scholars in the School of Education. As part of the literacy team, they will actively participate in continued shared processes of alignment and revision of the literacy sequence. The successful candidate will be expected to teach course(s) in early literacy education and potentially other areas of expertise, work with practicum students and clinical teachers, build relationships with public schools, and participate and contribute to the School of Education’s mission to “prepare exemplary, committed educators for service in diverse and multicultural communities for the glory of God.”

The School of Education, housed in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, offers AAQEP accredited degree programs certifying elementary, middle grades, and secondary teachers through both undergraduate degree plans and a 5th-year M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning. Guided by our new conceptual framework, the School of Education aims to prepare teachers who are reflective, responsive, aware, and critical. These conceptual lenses shape the work we do to prepare teachers who will serve students well in Texas and beyond.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in literacy education or a related field conferred no later than August 2027 or significant progress toward the terminal degree.
A minimum of three years of K-12 teaching experience
A record of, or evidence of potential for, scholarly productivity
A demonstrated commitment to equity-oriented, culturally responsive/sustaining, and/or antiracist teaching frameworks.
Commitment to and experience in collaborative professional practice.
Evidence of professional and institutional service in K-12 and/or higher education
