About the role

We are looking for a proactive, organised and hands-on Assistant Operations Manager to support the day-to-day running of our Dartford depot. • Manage fleet and facilities, ensuring operatives have suitable vehicles, defects and repairs are resolved promptly and the depot remains safe, organised and presentable.
  • Monitor operational performance, maintaining accurate and timely reports, identifying areas for improvement and proactively addressing inefficiencies.
  • Support the Operations Manager with key projects, particularly the NWP and its future expansion, taking ownership of day-to-day delivery and supporting the Construction team where required.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational change, ensuring new processes are communicated, implemented and embedded across the teams.
  • Support cost control and operational efficiency, monitoring subcontracted services and escalating any potential risks, issues or opportunities to the Operations Manager.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the depot when the Operations Manager is unavailable, taking ownership of operational challenges and ensuring issues are resolved or escalated appropriately.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing large teams within a warehouse, construction or similar operational environment.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment, managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach and develop team members.
  • Experience managing recruitment, onboarding, training and ongoing staff development.
