About the Role
The Assistant Accountant role will be integral in supporting the organisation’s accounting obligations by completing the bank reconciliations, being the key contact managing Foundation’s financial transactions, contributing to month end processing, and supporting the financial accounting team to ensure strong financial governance is maintained. The position will work closely with the Financial Accounting team and the GM, Financial performance to provide accounting support for SVHMs financial objectives, whilst ensuring strong financial governance. The role will be completed in accordance with policies and procedures, with a focus on internal controls, daily efficiencies and continuous improvement.
Your Contribution
- Completion of month end financial transaction requirements for Foundation including disbursements and banking transactions
- Assist the senior financial accountants when required
- Actively contribute to building efficiencies and streamlining processes across the Financial Accounting team responsibilities
- Contribute to financial accounting month end tasks and ensure processing is accurate and finalised in a timely manner in line with day 3 close off
- Completion of bank transfers for non AP related transactions
- Participate and contribute to regular meetings within the Finance team, and foundation;

About Our Department
The SVHM finance team consists of approximately 35 staff members across financial accounting, accounts payable, debtors, revenue services and strategic finance. The department consists of a friendly, driven, hardworking team
where the opportunity existsto build relationships with key stakeholders across the hospital and within the finance team, whilst embracing the culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and collaboration.
The SVHM finance team have a hybrid working arrangement and staff are expected to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
