Area Manager - Banter by Piercing Pagoda - Located in the Tennessee and Mississippi Area
Reports To: Regional Director
Reporting to this Position: 5 Stores
Major Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Performance: Partners with Store Managers to drive business results across an assigned district. Analyzes sales trends, customer feedback, staffing needs, piercing performance, and operational metrics to identify opportunities and create action plans that improve store performance. Supports store teams in delivering outstanding customer experiences while achieving sales, piercing, and profitability goals. Conducts regular store visits to observe execution, coach leaders, remove barriers, and reinforce behaviors that support financial success.
Personnel and Leadership Development: Identifies, recruits, develops, and retains top talent across the district. Partners with Store Managers to ensure effective staffing strategies, support recruiting activities, participate in candidate selection, and build succession pipelines. Provides coaching, training, and development to Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and team members. Supports onboarding, leadership development, performance management, and talent calibration activities designed to strengthen organizational capability and create a promote-from-within culture.
Operations and Compliance: Evaluates store operations to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards. Responsibilities include monitoring audit results, inventory controls, loss prevention practices, repair management, cash handling, labor utilization, administrative processes, and overall store execution. Identifies operational risks, supports problem resolution, and partners with district leadership to implement sustainable solutions that improve consistency and performance throughout the district.
Customer Experience, Piercing, and Brand Execution: Champions the Banter and Piercing Pagoda customer experience by reinforcing service standards, customer engagement behaviors, and relationship-building practices. Supports the execution of piercing services and partners with store leadership to ensure adherence to all piercing policies, procedures, safety standards, and training requirements. Monitors customer feedback, Net Promoter Score results, Customer Care concerns, and piercing performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Ensures stores consistently execute visual merchandising standards, promotional initiatives, and brand presentation expectations.
Building Relationships: Establishes productive relationships with Store Managers, District Managers, and cross-functional partners. Values diversity, fosters an inclusive culture, and creates an environment where team members feel supported, respected, and developed. Serves as a coach, mentor, and trusted business partner who influences through collaboration and accountability while supporting organizational initiatives and change management efforts.
Additional Expectations:
- Consistent, regular scheduled attendance is considered an essential function of this position.

Position Qualifications:
Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
Required or Acceptable Job-Related Experience:
- Demonstrated success as a Store Manager, District Training Store Manager, Area Manager, or equivalent retail leadership role.
- Proven track record of driving sales, customer experience, talent development, and operational execution.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and readiness for multi-unit management responsibilities.
- Experience recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and developing retail talent.
- Jewelry, specialty retail, and/or piercing experience preferred.
Years of Relevant Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years of retail leadership experience.
- Multi-unit leadership experience preferred.
Technical/Other Skills Required:
- Ability to travel extensively throughout an assigned district.
- Ability to analyze sales, staffing, operational, and customer experience metrics.
- Ability to coach, train, and develop leaders through observation and feedback.
- Strong presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to influence and lead through collaboration.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to use company technology systems and reporting tools.
- Ability to perform ear piercings upon completion of required certification and training.
- Ability to train, coach, and validate piercing execution in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of piercing standards, safety requirements, customer consultation practices, and piercing aftercare expectations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; move among and between display cases; handle merchandise; sit, stoop, kneel, and crouch; and lift and move up to 10 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Travel by car is regularly required. Air travel and overnight travel may be required.
- Standard workweek may include weekend, evening, holiday, and extended hours.
- Work is generally performed in a retail store or kiosk environment with a moderate noise level.
Additional Language(s) Required: Bilingual skills are a plus.
Career Development Statement:
Area Managers are expected to demonstrate increasing proficiency in multi-unit leadership, district-level business management, talent development, operational execution, customer experience leadership, and piercing excellence throughout the duration of the assignment.
If an Area Manager does not demonstrate the necessary progression or performance, the individual may be transitioned back into a Store Manager position, based on business needs and available opportunities.

The Area Manager partners directly with the Regional Director to support sales growth, customer experience, talent development, recruiting, operational excellence, piercing execution, and visual merchandising across an assigned district. As a People First leader, the Area Manager develops leadership capability within stores, drives execution of company initiatives, builds talent pipelines, and gains broad exposure to multi-unit leadership responsibilities.This position mirrors the core responsibilities of a District Manager while overseeing a smaller store portfolio, providing leadership, operational support, and business management across an assigned district.
