Job Description:

Summary:

This position supports the Public Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Lab (PACH) in the Department of Anthropology, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. The position reports to and is supervised by the PACH Director. This position will support tasks related to the development of the lab as a new research hub on campus. Focus areas within the position can include, but are not necessarily limited to: communication, digital publications, and research support.

Essential Functions:

  • Contribute to defining the strategic vision and core functions of the PACH lab and its launch on campus.

  • Support communication functions (email, social media, website, materials).

  • Support research efforts of the lab, including archaeological artifact processing and cultural heritage interpretation.

  • Support in the planning and execution of lab events.

  • Attend and support in-person lab events.

  • Track student participation metrics.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 8 - 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 per hour.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Current AU student (undergraduate) with or without a Federal Work Study award.

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • Pursuing a degree, minor, or certificate (undergraduate) in Anthropology. Students in communication, humanities, journalism, and social sciences are also encouraged to apply.  

  • Effective writing and communication skills. 

  • Effective attention to detail.

  • Comfortable speaking with people from all different backgrounds. 

  • Experience or sensibility for customer service.

Additional Eligibility Qualfiications:

  • Location: Hamilton Building, Room 208 (Public Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Lab).
