About the role
As a member of the International Policy Applied AI team at Anthropic, you will be a trusted technical advisor to governments, AI Safety Institutes (AISIs), and multilateral institutions. You'll use your technical skills and your experience with government partners to help them understand frontier AI, test it, and apply it to their public missions with a high degree of reliability and safety. This role serves Anthropic's policy, mission, and public benefit goals.
In collaboration with the Policy, Product, Research, and Engineering teams, you'll help partners develop strategies and plans to evaluate and adopt leading-edge AI systems. You will use your excellent communication skills to explain complex topics, including the potential benefits and harms of frontier AI, to technical and non-technical audiences alike. You will also play a critical role in identifying how our AI systems can best serve public interests around the world, while maintaining our best-in-class safety standards.
Responsibilities:

Act as a primary technical advisor for senior officials in partner governments, AISIs, and international institutions. Brief them on frontier AI capabilities, give an honest account of both benefits and harms, and explain safety research in terms that inform their decisions.

Partner closely with the Policy team to understand each partner's goals and requirements. Develop demos, pilots, prototypes, and evaluation suites that show how Claude can support their public missions, such as cyber defense.

Lead technical onboarding, enablement, and hands-on workshops for partner institutions, including national cybersecurity agencies. Guide their setup, architecture, and integration as they build with Claude Code and the Claude API.

Act as the voice of our international partners and a key collaborator with our Product and Research teams to ensure we deliver the capabilities they need.

Travel internationally to partner institutions for senior leader meetings, technical enablement, and building relationships.

Establish a shared vision for creating solutions that enable beneficial and safe AI.

Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of innovative solutions that leverage our latest models’ capabilities.
You may be a good fit if you have:

4+ years of experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Cybersecurity Engineer, working with governments, international organizations, or the public sector

Experience in technology policy, AI safety, cybersecurity, or international affairs

Designed novel and innovative solutions for technical platforms in a developing mission area

Familiarity with how AI models are evaluated and tested for safety

Strong technical aptitude to partner with engineers and strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred)

Understanding of and experience with LLM fundamentals

The ability to navigate and execute amidst ambiguity, and to flex into different domains based on the problem at hand, finding simple, easy-to-understand solutions

Excitement for engaging in cross-organizational collaboration, working through trade-offs, and balancing competing priorities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey complicated topics in easily understandable terms to a diverse set of external and internal stakeholders, from engineers to senior government officials

Passion for thinking creatively about how to use technology in a way that is safe and beneficial, and ultimately furthers the goal of advancing safe AI systems
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Logistics
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
