Job Description: Application Engineering Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for an Application Engineering Manager to lead a team that helps customers successfully use 3M solutions. This role provides technical support, solves customer application issues, supports product trials and qualification, and works closely with sales, product, R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of application engineers.
• Provide on-site technical support at customer and partner locations.
• Help customers apply, test, qualify, and use 3M solutions successfully.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during trials, implementation, and production start-up.
• Work with sales and commercial teams to understand customer needs and support business growth.
• Support product trials, demonstrations, qualification, optimization, and scale-up.
• Share customer feedback, performance data, and technical learnings with internal teams.
• Recommend improvements to make 3M solutions more reliable, consistent, and effective.
• Train customers and internal teams on best practices.
• Build strong customer relationships and technical trust.
• Track team priorities, projects, and performance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience in application engineering, technical support, field engineering, product engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work with customers and cross-functional teams.
• Experience supporting product trials, qualification, or implementation.
• Experience leading people or projects is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• People management experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, electronics, materials, automotive, or related industries.
• Experience working at customer sites.
• Strong customer service mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
