Position Purpose:

This specialized role sits at the critical intersection of risk mitigation, legal compliance, and data-driven asset protection. As a Fraud & High-Risk Credit Analyst, you are responsible for safeguarding the trade credit program through rigorous fraud detection and the precise execution of security interests. You will act as a primary gatekeeper, ensuring every lien and bond filing is verified for appropriateness and accuracy before submission, while maintaining high-visibility reporting on all high-risk deadlines

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lien & Bond Verification: Perform meticulous "pre-flight" audits of all lien and bond information. Verify project details, ownership, and statutory timelines to ensure every filing is appropriate and legally sound prior to execution.
  • Legal & Compliance Partnership: Partner closely with Legal Counsel to validate understanding of complex filing requirements. Act as the bridge between Credit and Legal to ensure demand letters and security filings align with current statutory regulations.
  • Fraud Prevention & Investigation: Monitor applications and transaction patterns for "red flags." Conduct deep-dive investigations into potential identity theft or misrepresented business credentials.
  • Data Analytics & Portfolio Reporting: Develop and maintain detailed tracking of all high-risk exposures. Provide the leadership team with granular reporting on lien expirations, bond claim windows, and fraud trends.
  • Deadline Management: Take full ownership of the risk calendar. Ensure 100% "follow-through" on strict statutory deadlines for notices and filings, preventing the loss of security rights due to administrative delays.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: * Work with Collections to transition high-risk accounts into the legal demand or recovery phase.
    • Collaborate with Credit Risk Analysts to provide data-backed recommendations for limit adjustments based on investigative findings.

  • This Position typically reports to the Area Supervisor Trade Credit Services

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Handle & NCS: Expert proficiency in using Handle and/or NCS to manage the lifecycle of lien and bond filings and track critical notice windows.
  • Data Analytics & Excel: Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, nested logic, and dashboarding) to track aging filings and create high-risk exposure reports.
  • Bectran: Proficiency in using Bectran’s risk scoring and fraud alert modules to automate the initial vetting process.
  • Salesforce: Ability to document legal actions, lien status, and investigation notes to maintain a transparent audit trail for Commercial teams.
  • Public Record Tools: Experience with LexisNexis, D&B, or similar tools for entity verification and asset searching.
  • Experience: 1-3 years in trade credit, with a heavy emphasis on construction credit, mechanic’s liens, or legal risk management.
  • Detail Obsession: A proven track record of finding errors in complex legal or financial documentation.
  • Legal Literacy: Strong grasp of the Miller Act, UCC filings, and state-specific mechanic’s lien statutes.
  • Accountability: A "project manager" mindset with the ability to own a high volume of time-sensitive tasks without oversight.
