About this AML Framework Design (Family Office) role at Capitex
Senior Advisory – AML Framework Design (Family-Owned Group)
Location: Middle East / UAE (hybrid or remote-flexible, to be confirmed)
Type: Contract / Advisory Engagement
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Advisory resource to support a family-owned/private group in designing and operationalising an enterprise-wide AML framework. This is a hands-on, senior engagement requiring both deep AML/CFT technical expertise and the ability to navigate the governance, ownership, and stakeholder dynamics typical of a privately-controlled, multi-jurisdictional business.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience advising family offices, family-owned groups, or privately-controlled investment/operating businesses, with a strong understanding of governance structures, ownership arrangements, related-party relationships, and decision-making processes typical of such organisations
- Senior-level Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) advisory background, with the ability to translate regulatory expectations into a practical, proportionate AML framework aligned with the operating model of a privately-held business
- Track record of engaging senior stakeholders (Board members, principals, family shareholders) and delivering credible, actionable recommendations
- Strong working knowledge of FATF standards and jurisdiction-specific AML/CFT regulatory requirements across the Middle East, UK, EU, and/or US (FinCEN)
- Experience with DNFBP classification and reporting obligations is highly desirable
Scope of Work
- Conduct an AML gap assessment against existing governance, policies, and applicable regulatory obligations (FATF and jurisdiction-specific requirements)
- Design a scalable AML governance structure and Target Operating Model (TOM), including Board oversight, reporting lines, and a RACI matrix
- Develop an AML Policy and Procedures Framework, including interaction points with existing third-party due diligence and screening processes
- Perform regulatory mapping across key jurisdictions (FATF, FinCEN, EU, UK, and the Middle East), including DNFBP classification and reporting obligations
- Design an enterprise-wide AML training programme with structured learning modules
- Develop a phased implementation roadmap to operationalise the AML framework
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of progressive FCC/AML experience, including senior advisory, MLRO, or Head of Compliance-level roles
- Prior exposure to family offices, privately-held conglomerates, or multi-generational business structures strongly preferred
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, CGSS) preferred
- Comfortable operating both strategically (Board-level advisory) and hands-on (policy drafting, framework design)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and Boards
