AltaGas - Millwright/Heavy-Duty Mechanic - RIPET

AltaGas is seeking a Millwright/Heavy-Duty Mechanic to support mechanical maintenance activities at the RIPET Facility reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator, this role will focus on maintaining rotating equipment, performing repairs, and supporting reliability initiatives across the facility.

Your primary focus will be to ensure all work aligns with AltaGas’ Core Values: safety, collaboration, integrity, inclusion, and learning. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

This position is based full-time in Prince Rupert, BC, and follows a Monday to Thursday schedule, consisting of four 10-hour workdays per week.

You Will:

• Test, troubleshoot, and repair all site mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, piping, bearings, valves, filters, rail equipment, offloading equipment, air coolers, facility vehicles, firewater equipment, motors, and marine loading equipment.
• Utilize the Maximo Maintenance software system to its full capabilities.
• Coordinate suppliers and service providers.
• Perform preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance at the RIPET Facility.
• Assist with shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
• Assist with plant and warehouse cleanliness, painting, and organization.
• Provide support to the procurement group regarding purchasing of maintenance parts and equipment.
• Complete maintenance on a daily basis and troubleshoot plant issues.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, safety, and environmental standards.
• Install instrument tubing and small diameter pressure piping.
• Assist other Tradespeople as required.
• Communicate and work with Operations on any technical requirements.
• Perform tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

You Have:

• Red Seal Journeyman Millwright or Heavy-Duty Mechanic certification.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance in industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment and mechanical systems.
• Experience with Maximo and maintenance planning.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong safety awareness and communication skills.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License requied

Compensation 

We offer a competitive salary of $70.53/ hour for this position, per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. AltaGas is also proud to provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off starting on day one.
