About this Senior DevOps Engineer role at Aerones

Aerones · Onsite · Riga, Riga, Latvia

AERONES is seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to build and run the infrastructure that takes our robotics software from code to the field. In this role, you will own our infrastructure as code with Terraform, automate systems with Python, manage environments across cloud platforms, local servers and the embedded devices on our robots, and propose and lead technical improvements that increase reliability, scalability, security and delivery speed.

You will work closely with R&D, engineering, IT and AI development teams, mentor colleagues, and take ownership of solutions that help our engineers move faster with better operational control. Our software doesn’t only run in the cloud. It runs on robots working on wind turbines around the world, so reliability, security and smart automation genuinely matter here.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and manage our infrastructure as code with Terraform, keeping cloud environments consistent, repeatable and easy to scale.
  • Propose and lead technical improvements that raise reliability, scalability, security and delivery speed, owning them from idea to rollout.
  • Automate workflows, metric collection and operational tasks in Python, using Bash where it fits best.
  • Build and evolve GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including modular, reusable job templates that make releases faster and more reliable across teams.
  • Run containerised applications with Docker and Docker Compose across cloud, on-premise and edge environments, delivering production-ready, secure and scalable environments for our R&D and engineering teams.
  • Introduce AI-assisted DevOps practices that optimise pipelines and infrastructure, detect issues earlier, and add smarter controls across builds, deployments and operations.
  • Keep systems secure by automating SSL/TLS certificates, managing secrets and applying security best practice to containers and cloud infrastructure.
  • Work closely with R&D, engineering, IT and AI development teams to understand their bottlenecks and turn them into automated, dependable workflows.
  • Mentor team members and share DevOps best practice so engineering teams can work faster with better operational control.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Strong, hands-on experience with Terraform for building and managing cloud infrastructure as code.
  • Advanced Python skills for automation, tooling and metric collection, plus working knowledge of Bash.
  • Solid experience running production workloads on AWS or Google Cloud. Experience with both is a strong advantage.
  • Strong experience with Docker and Docker Compose in both cloud and local environments.
  • Experience developing GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including modular job templates.
  • Practical experience applying AI tools to optimise, monitor or automate infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and operational workflows.
  • Good knowledge of SSL/TLS automation, secrets management and securing containerised and cloud-based systems.
  • An ownership mindset, the confidence to lead technical improvements and mentor others, and fluent English to support several teams with different priorities.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay with a salary of €4,000–€6,000 gross/month.
  • Global impact through robotics shaping the future of renewable energy.
  • Career growth with real opportunities to learn, develop, and advance.
  • Cutting-edge technology with hands-on experience in innovative robotics.
  • Enjoy the journey with team events, celebrations, and a vibrant company culture.
  • Health insurance after your probation period.
  • Extra time to recharge with additional Health Recovery Days.
  • Learning support with paid study leave.
  • Life-event benefits to support you when it matters most.

Ready to make an impact? If you’re excited about solving real challenges, working with great people, and contributing to technology shaping the future of renewable energy, we’d love to hear from you. Apply and let’s build what’s next together.
