Agile PMO (APMO) Intern

This position is based in Birmingham, AL. Ideal candidates reside in or near the Birmingham, AL area. 

What you'll do 

  • Participate in project, program, and portfolio meetings, and help keep leadership informed on progress 

  • Help track milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items across multiple initiatives 

  • Support agile ceremonies across our Agile Release Trains, including PI Planning, team standups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and system demos 

  • Help maintain schedules, dashboards, reports, and portfolio and delivery metrics 

  • Support the build-out of team-health, flow, and predictability views that help teams and leaders see how work is progressing 

  • Collaborate with teams to capture requirements, meeting notes, and project artifacts 

  • Assist with executive presentations, status reports, and governance materials 

  • Support continuous improvement by helping refine PMO and agile ways-of-working processes, templates, and tools 

  • Work with business and technology stakeholders to keep project information accurate and current 

  • Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Agile PMO team 

What you'll bring 

  • Currently pursuing a BS or BA in Business, Information Technology, Organizational Leadership, Engineering, or a related field 

  • Interest in one or more of: project management, Agile delivery, portfolio management, business operations, or technology delivery 

  • Basic understanding of project management and/or Agile and Scrum concepts 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams 

  • Exposure to delivery and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, Power BI, or Microsoft Project is a plus 

  • Awareness of SAFe or other scaled-agile approaches is a plus 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Clear written and verbal communication 

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team 

  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills 

  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous-improvement mindset
