Job Description:

The firm is targeting growth from 288 to 500 partners within two years, alongside wider deployment of AI models in engagement delivery, both of which materially increase the risk profile of Tax and Advisory work.

The role provides senior, authoritative Quality and Risk support across Advisory, supporting engagement teams to identify, assess and manage engagement risk, while enabling sustainable growth and protecting the firm’s reputation. The Senior Manager will act as a trusted adviser to client service teams, embedding sound risk judgement at every stage of the engagement lifecycle, and engaging with senior leaders where appropriate.

You will interact with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority in delivering projects and to help teams within Advisory to manage their legal, technical, regulatory and risk management responsibilities whilst promoting the quality agenda of the firm.

The role will suit a motivated and driven individual who has technical and practical experience within professional or legal services, ideally within a transactions or consulting environment, and is now ready for their next challenge.

A look into the role

As a Senior Manager within the AQRM team, you will work with senior members of AQRM to:

• provide risk management and quality support to nominated Advisory teams, as well as other advisory and tax teams where required
• review drafts of engagement contracts and other documents to support teams in negotiating the final contract with the client, liaising with other members of AQRM and the wider Quality & Risk community as appropriate
• support, educate and coach client facing teams and individuals to enhance their risk awareness and to enable them to manage risks appropriately
• develop and maintain training materials as well as presenting at relevant training sessions
• ensure required controls are understood and implemented by client-facing teams
• help to identify and manage emerging risks
• contribute ideas and support colleagues to ensure that the AQRM and client-facing teams function as effectively as possible, thinking digital first wherever possible
• work collaboratively with the Firm’s other central support teams, such as Legal and Ethics, to help our client facing teams overcome challenges and to improve our policies and processes
• develop guidance materials and resources including template documentation
• support the service line file review and monitoring procedures

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as an AQRM Senior Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is either:

• a professional qualification (eg ACA, ACCA) together with experience of working in an advisory or tax business unit of a professional services firm; or
• a legal/risk management background with experience of advising on contracts and developing policies.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

• project management experience
• experience of working in, or advising teams involved in transactions or providing consulting services.
• experience of drafting and/or reviewing contractual terms;
• have a positive, proactive attitude and be someone who takes pride in delivering a high-quality output
• be commercially aware and recognise the need to balance risk with reward
• good attention to detail, whilst retaining an ability to see the bigger picture, so that you are able to find innovative solutions to novel situations
• an awareness of the ethical principles that apply to professional services firms, especially those that apply to audit firms
• an ability to communicate effectively with a flexible and agile approach
• an interest in how we can develop digital solutions to help us do things to improve the way we work
• be a resilient individual who enjoys being part of a diverse team
