Job Description Summary

In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibility on the Software System Integration part of large and complex IT projects associated to the management of electrical grid Transmission, Distribution and Market to meet the schedule, cost and quality commitments.

In the context of Software Solutions (SWS) projects execution within the Services organization in Africa (SSA), the Solution Integrator makes sure all the various software applications and databases used for a Solution work together without compromising overall information system integrity. To accomplish this role the Senior Solution Integrator must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Implementation Services teams including Delivery Managers, Software Factories, Delivery Centers, and with the customer.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the ADMS network model (substations, feeders, switching devices, transformers and protection devices) from the customer’s GIS and asset data; run initial and incremental model imports using the ADMS model build tools.
  • Validate network connectivity, topology, phasing and electrical parameters; identify and resolve data-quality issues with the customer’s GIS and network teams and track them to closure.
  • Map SCADA/RTU points to model objects; build and maintain one-line, schematic and geographic displays.
  • Prepare and validate application data for DMS functions (load flow, FLISR, Volt/VAR optimization) and for OMS (customer-to-transformer mapping, crews and devices).
  • Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), cutover and go-live, and post-go-live model maintenance; train the customer’s modeling staff so the model remains sustainable after handover.
  • Own assigned technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle and work collaboratively with GE Vernova regional ADMS experts, project management and the customer to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of ADMS network modeling and related applications; use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to deliver against established practices.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Automation and Control, Industrial Computing, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in distribution network modeling, GIS, SCADA/ADMS/DMS, network planning tools, or related utility software with an African customer
  • Solid understanding of distribution network topology and equipment (substations, feeders, switching devices, transformers, protection devices) and of power system fundamentals (load flow, phasing).
  • Hands-on experience with GIS tools and data (ESRI ArcGIS, Smallworld or QGIS; CIM/XML, shapefiles) and comfort with SQL, Excel or scripting for data transformation and validation.
  • Fluency in English.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong attention to detail and a data-quality mindset; ability to work methodically through large datasets.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and regions.
  • Ability to understand and improve complex processes in a cross-functional environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer-facing skills.
  • Experience with distribution utilities in Africa is a plus.
  • Willing to travel to customer sites across Africa for training and collaboration with regional teams
