The Admission Counselor reports to an Associate Director of Admission within the Office of Enrollment Management. This role is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of students for both undergraduate and graduate programs across all colleges at The New School, including Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, the College of Performing Arts, and The New School for Social Research.

CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Recruitment & Travel: Traveling extensively across the U.S. and internationally to represent all university programs at high schools, college fairs, and professional conferences.

  • Admissions & Holistic Review: Evaluating a wide range of applications and academic credentials to determine eligibility for the university’s diverse degree offerings.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Serving as a liaison between the Office of Admission and faculty across various departments—from design and social sciences to humanities and the arts—to coordinate application reviews and student yield efforts.

  • University-Wide Event Planning: Assisting with the coordination of large-scale on-campus recruitment events, open houses, and orientation sessions for the entire university community.

  • Strategic Communication: Managing outreach to prospective students and families across all disciplines via phone, email, and social media to communicate the unique value of a New School education.

  • Specialty and Project Teams: Lead/serve on department wide speciality and project teams, focused on admission events, communications, recruitment planning and marketing, and other key enrollment services, as assigned.
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree, excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills, a valid driver’s license, and a passport for international travel.

  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a multi-disciplinary higher education environment and proficiency with CRM databases (e.g., Slate).

    • For this position we are seeking a candidate with experience in visual art and design, having either achieved a BFA or worked as an admission counselor in art and design admission

WORK MODE

This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement. #LI-Onsite

Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee.

SALARY RANGE

$66,300 - $70,500 per annum
