Administrative Graduate Assistant (AGA) Graduate Assistantship Program

The Administrative Graduate Assistant (AGA) will assist the School of Law’s Internal Affairs team by providing the administrative support required to ensure the operational, student development, event management, and student engagement responsibilities that directly impact the student experience are accomplished with excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administrative and clerical support for Internal Affairs operations.
  • Support for the Professional Identity Formation Program, including tracking and record keeping.
  • Coordination assistance for student organizations and related programming.
  • Event planning and logistical support for convocations, receptions, leadership programs, and special events.
  • Assistance with orientation, graduation planning, Barristers' Ball, Ad Fontes, and other major law school events.
  • Organization and maintenance of student organization and administrative records.
  • Reception coverage and customer service support as needed.
  • Operational and logistical support for Internal Affairs initiatives and daily office functions.
  • Errands and miscellaneous administrative support both on and off campus
  • Work under the direction and supervision of the .
  • Be present for all necessary events put on by the department and The Graduate School.
  • Attend all Orientations and training sessions per the direction of the department and The Graduate School.
  • Uphold and follow The Graduate School Honor Code and Graduate Assistantship Handbook.
  • Assist the Internal Affairs team with miscellaneous administrative tasks/projects and any other various responsibilities.
  • Assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data related to academic programs, institutional reports, and other relevant metrics. This will involve using spreadsheet software or databases.
  • Assist The Graduate School in conducting research related to best practices in higher education, program assessment, accreditation, and other relevant topics.
  • Help review and update policies and procedures related to academic programs, ensuring they are in line with the institution's guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist with data collection and preparation of materials for institutional reporting, accreditation processes, and program reviews.
  • Support The Graduate School in managing faculty-related matters, such as compiling materials for reporting, meetings, committees, and program reviews.
  • Collaborate with other graduate assistants, staff, faculty, departments, and colleges/schools across the university on tasks and initiatives originating from The Graduate School.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion, adhering to ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) degree from a four-year college or university
  • Must be accepted into or currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at Liberty University
  • Possess a professional demeanor
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information with integrity and discretion
  • Must live in the local area in order to report to work on campus.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop while working law school events
  • Occasionally lift 10 or fewer pounds

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting.  It has good lighting and the noise level is moderate.     

Driving Requirements

May occasionally need to drive personal vehicle on and off campus to run errands. 

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel.  Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.

Pay Rate

Starting at $12.77


Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
