Join Aprio’s Outsourcing team as an Accounting Associate with 1099 expertise. This role will support the day-to-day accounting needs of an assigned client portfolio while assisting accounting teams and clients with 1099 preparation, and filing during 1099 season.
Position Responsibilities:
1099 Tasks
- Review vendor and general ledger activity to identify 1099-eligible payments and vendors, and update related records in QuickBooks Online, Xero, and/or NetSuite as needed.
- Communicate with clients and vendors to obtain W-9s and other required information and resolve 1099-related questions or discrepancies.
- Support the preparation, review, and filing of 1099 forms using Avalara (Track 1099) and assist accounting teams with 1099-related matters.
- Maintain accurate 1099 work papers and documentation while managing multiple clients and filing deadlines.
Accounting Tasks
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including bank and credit card transactions, coding, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting tasks for assigned clients.
- Process bills and receipts through platforms such as Bill.com, Dext, and other client-specific applications, including appropriate GL coding, classes, descriptions, and approvals.
- Record payroll entries and perform monthly or quarterly reconciliations, update workpapers, and closing entries.
- Assist with monthly or quarterly financial statement preparation, including flux analysis.
- Support Senior Accountants, Managers, and clients with accounting requests, open items, and issue resolution.
- Maintain process documentation, assist with process improvements, and perform self-review to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage multiple clients and priorities while maintaining timely, accurate, and high-quality work.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or any accounting-related field required. CPA license or eligibility is an advantage.
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a BPO/outsourcing environment. Experience working with US Professional Services clients is preferred.
1099 preparation and filing experience is required.
Experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero, and any 1099 software is required. NetSuite are Avalara (Track 1099) experience is an advantage.
Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including reconciliations, and financial statements.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong Excel skills and ability to develop formulas to support accounting and review processes.
Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and shifting priorities independently and effectively.
Adaptable, resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to learn new technologies and processes quickly.
Able to work on a hybrid work setup
