The Accounting Assistant II provides accounting and administrative support primarily within the Accounts Payable function. This position assists with processing invoices and payments, maintaining accurate financial records, researching and resolving discrepancies, and supporting account reconciliations.Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for processing invoices for payment, including 3-way matching with receipts and purchase orders
- Analyzes and reviews invoices for errors, including terms, missing signatures, account coding, and missing documents
- Responsible for the timeliness of payments using due dates and payment terms
- Enters electronic payments into banking system
- Reconciles accounts payable trade account to the general ledger
- Prepares monthly reports for the board meetings, and ad hoc reports as needed
- Works with internal customers and vendors to answer questions and solve problems
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
- Demonstrated analytical skills, critical thinking, risk detection, and big-picture mindset; combined with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Authority
- Proficient in MS Office, with emphasis in Excel
- Attention to detail
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP platform preferred
- Experience with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Title 18 Chart of Accounts preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal abilities with outstanding customer service techniques allowing for development of strong business relationships
Education, Training Experience:
- Three (3) years of accounts payable, accounting or related financial experience.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office setting
- Minimal day travel required, with overnight travel limited to attending training and conferences.
