About this Accountant role at Michaels
Major Activities
- Reconcile and analyze various general ledger account balances and recommend to management appropriate action to be taken, if necessary.\
- Prepare and enter various general ledger journal entries for month-end closing.
- Record bi-weekly payroll into the general ledger and process monthly accruals, when necessary.
- Provide analysis for various payroll related variances.
- Research questions and issues that arise relating to information contained in the monthly financial reports.
- Interrelate with other departments to resolve issues as they occur.
- Prepare and complete special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education
- Bachelors or Master's Degree in Accounting
Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills
- Proficient in Excel
Minimum Type of experience the job requires
- 0 to 5 years of accounting experience
- Exposure to U.S. GAAP and SOX
Preferred Special Certifications or technical skills
- CPA or CMA preferred
Preferred Type of experience the job requires
- Experience with Oracle Financials or other large ERP desired
