About this Account Manager (Field-based) role at Autotrader
About us
You've probably heard of Autotrader, but do you know what we're all about?
We're the most trusted, most visited automotive marketplace in the UK. A heritage brand and a tech innovator. We bring together vehicle buyers and sellers to give them real choices. Cars may be what we're best known for but we’re also the place for pretty much everything else on wheels, from e-bikes to caravans.
In the automotive world, change is a constant, that’s why we take our job of untangling the complex car-buying journey very seriously.
At our core, we’re all about people. We go our own way while embracing diversity and celebrating our differences. We dedicate ourselves to the idea that we work better together.
Autotrader is a beautiful, surprising and vibrant place to work. We might not be for everyone, but we could be perfect for you.
About the team
Our automotive finance partnerships are core to the success of Autotrader’s ambition of being one of the UK’s leading automotive finance destinations, connecting buyers with not just the right vehicles, but also with the right financing options.
Our Finance Partnerships team has developed strong relationships with brokers, lenders, and funders through AutoConvert and API integrations. We also power more of our partners’ own products and services using our ever-growing suite of data services (Autotrader Connect), including vehicle valuations and taxonomy. This helps us deliver on our mission of making vehicle financing easier and more transparent for consumers, while driving efficiencies for our retailer, OEM, lender, funder, and broker partners.
About the job
We’re looking for an Account Manager to join our field-based Finance Partnerships team, partnering with customers across London, the South East, and the East of England.
As part of the Finance Partnerships team, you’ll specifically help manage our AutoConvert solution and support the continued expansion of our auto finance ecosystem.
Through a consultative approach, you’ll build and grow strong, lasting relationships with a portfolio of retailers and brokers using AutoConvert. You will help them achieve great results through our automotive finance digital solutions, our ever-evolving digital marketplace, and our passion for delivering exceptional service.
You’ll carry out dealership and broker visits, support workshops, resolve problems, and identify commercial opportunities. Your resilient and commercially focused approach will help you build trusted customer relationships, understand their priorities, and support them in achieving their automotive sales and finance objectives.
This role plays a key part in the digital transformation of our customers and the wider automotive industry. We need someone who is passionate about customer success, demonstrating value, and helping our retailers and brokers achieve a strong return on investment.
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel (minimum 3 days per week) across London, the South East, and the East of England, with occasional travel further afield to support our retailer customers on-site. Alongside this, you will spend time collaborating at our Autotrader office in Manchester monthly, which may include overnight stays.
What we're looking for
- Experience working with brokers and/or retailers within an automotive finance environment, managing digital products or solutions
- Proven track record in B2B account management, with demonstrated success in retaining and growing customer relationships
- Experience in a field-based role, effectively managing time, travel schedules, and face-to-face customer interactions
- Experience driving commercial performance and achieving KPIs, utilising data and market insights to understand customer needs and identify growth opportunities
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence building relationships across all levels, from key decision-makers to internal colleagues
- Confidence in using account planning and pipeline management practices to prioritise activity, progress customer relationships and support both short- and longer-term objectives
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and work with energy, flexibility and collaboration in a fast-paced environment
- A good understanding of the current regulatory and legislative challenges in automotive finance, as well as the wider finance ecosystem and the roles played by retailers, brokers, lenders and technology providers
During our application process, you will be asked two questions to help us learn more about you and how you align with our values. These will be used as part of our selection criteria, to determine if we progress your application further.
Benefits
We’re offering a salary of up to £50,000, plus a car allowance of £6,000 per annum* and an additional 10% of your salary awarded to you in shares each year. These awarded shares will become yours in yearly instalments over the next three years, and you can choose to either sell them or keep them as shares.
You'll have 28 days holiday per year, and that's in addition to bank holidays and half day closures on Christmas and New Year's Eve.
That’s not all. You'll be enrolled in our pension scheme, where our standard contributions are 7% and employee contributions are 5%. We also have comprehensive private medical cover, enhanced family leave provisions, a car salary sacrifice scheme, share-save options, and much more.
We always want to give you the support you need and help prioritise your wellbeing, that’s why we provide access to a Digital GP service, as well as specialist support for assisted fertility, gender dysphoria, menopause, period care plans and lots more.
Alongside a wide range of benefits, we'll help you settle in with confidence from day one. If you're successful, one of the first things you'll experience is our tailored new-starter induction programme, Great Start, designed to help you feel welcome, connected, and set up for success.
