Revenue cycle management, often called RCM, is the financial and operational process that begins when a patient schedules care and continues through insurance reimbursement and final payment of the account. In simple terms, it is how a healthcare organization accurately documents services, bills for care, receives payment, and helps patients understand and resolve their financial responsibility.

Your role.

As a Revenue Cycle Consultant, you will help hospitals, health systems, physician practices, and other healthcare organizations improve financial performance so they can continue serving patients and communities. You will work alongside experienced consultants and healthcare leaders to evaluate operations, analyze data, identify improvement opportunities, and implement practical solutions that strengthen financial performance, patient experience, and operational efficiency.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting with clients to understand their revenue cycle challenges and developing impactful, data-driven solutions to improve their financial health.
  • Analyzing and compiling client financial data for all revenue cycle departments (patient access, middle revenue cycle (coding and billing), and patient financial services (account receivable management, denials, and write-offs) to build reporting and financial models to assist clients in fact-based decision making and prioritization management.
  • Researching industry trends and providing insights that can influence client strategies and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that address client needs across various healthcare settings.
  • Developing relationships with clients while demonstrating professionalism and dedication to their success.
  • Build reporting and financial models to assist clients in fact-based decision making and prioritization management.

The qualifications.

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in healthcare administration, health informatics, business administration, business analytics, finance, accounting, economics, public health, data analytics, or a related field
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Proactive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to learn

Preferred

  • Internship, academic project, or work experience in healthcare, consulting, finance, analytics, or business operations
  • Exposure to healthcare organizations, healthcare data, or process improvement
  • Experience with data visualization, reporting tools, or analytics platforms
  • Demonstrated leadership through student organizations, athletics, volunteer activities, or employment
