Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to lead the development and maintenance of Vanguard's Azure contingency site. This individual contributor role requires deep technical expertise combined with strong product thinking to ensure our backup platform delivers reliable, secure, and compliant financial services when clients need them most. A critical aspect of this role is partnering closely with AWS-side product managers to identify and maintain core feature parity that supports essential client intents, while building a simplified, stripped-down version of the primary platform.

Responsibilites
1. Leads technical product management activities for multiple technical products, or one strategic technical product. Participates in the design and continuous improvement of the technical solution.
2. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to create best practices that drive significant change to the client experience.
3. Coaches technical product teams towards best practices and learnings. Ensures delivery of messaging, communication, and customer outreach as necessary.
4. Partners with stakeholders to resolve production and implementation issues in a timely manner, and supports/drives escalations where required to enable rapid delivery.
5. Leads the planning, development and implementation of new technical products. Defines and analyzes technical markets, developing detailed product features and requirements, and developing implementation plans.
6. Employs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to continually improve the user experience.
7. Participates in and provides recommendations for ongoing business planning and departmental prioritization activities.
8. Participates in the team’s engineering practices in development, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
9. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
10. Manages the entire product life cycle from planning to execution in alignment with business goals and strategy.
11. Researches and analyzes market conditions to identify key consumer trends and opportunities for product enhancements or innovation.
12. Determines product features and functions by gathering business and customer feedback and translating it into product requirements.
13. Prepares product documentation and supports go-to-market activities by providing product knowledge to sales and marketing teams.
14. Leverages market and performance feedback to evaluate product effectiveness and steer future product direction.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 8 years of experience in technical product management, with at least 2 years leading large cross-functional teams. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required; graduate degree preferred
• technical product management experience, preferably in financial services or highly regulated industries 
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Azure services (compute, storage, networking, security) 
• Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and multi-cloud architectures 
• Knowledge of US financial services regulations and compliance requirements (SOX, SEC regulations, data privacy) 
• Experience with AWS and multi-cloud deployment strategies
• Background in US financial services technology, particularly trading platforms or wealth management systems
• Proven experience identifying core features and simplifying complex user experiences while maintaining essential functionality 
• Strong ability to collaborate with product managers to define "minimum viable" versions of full-featured experiences 
• Experience prioritizing features based on user impact and business continuity requirements 
• Experience working with distributed engineering teams and managing cross-functional dependencies 
• Strong analytical skills with ability to make data-driven decisions about feature prioritization and platform capabilities 
• Experience with agile development methodologies and product management tools 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership in both regions 
• Demonstrated success in cross-product collaboration and defining feature requirements across different platform teams 
• Experience facilitating discussions about feature prioritization and scope with multiple stakeholders 
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business impact and risk assessments for US-based stakeholders 
• Strong project management skills with track record of delivering on committed timelines
