They are responsible for defining product direction, maintaining roadmaps and ensuring products continue to deliver value throughout their lifecycle.

Your work at Leonardo UK will see you collaborate with customers, architects, engineers, delivery teams and service teams to balance user needs, technical constraints and business priorities. The role may involve a blended hybrid working model, with a mixture of working from home and working on site at one of our Leonardo offices to ensure close collaboration with the wider team and our customers.

Leonardo UK is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join the Cyber & Security Solutions Division. This role is focused on owning the direction, evolution and lifecycle management of technical products and capabilities of our mission critical communications product suite .


What you will do as a Technical Product Manager

  • Derive and deliver the UK MCX Product Strategy, working with the UK Cyber Divisions CTO and VP Capability.
  • Lead on UK customer engagement related to MCX product opportunities supported by relevant sales experts.
  • Balance customer demand, technical debt, supportability, risk and enhancement opportunities when making product decisions.
  • Work closely with Technical Architects and engineering teams to ensure product evolution remains technically coherent and achievable.
  • Collaborate with Delivery Managers, Service Managers and stakeholders to align product priorities with delivery plans.
  • Support business development activities including customer engagement, demonstrations, proposals and bids.
  • Monitor product performance and operational outcomes to lead your MCX product team to execute the UK MCX product strategy and adjust accordingly to accommodate customer feedback
  • Champion continuous improvement and promote product thinking across delivery and engineering teams.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience managing or shaping the direction of a technical product, service or capability.
  • Experience balancing customer requirements, operational support considerations, technical constraints and product evolution across the lifecycle of a product or service.
  • Ability to balance customer needs, operational requirements, technical constraints and commercial considerations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working with architects, engineers and delivery teams to define and evolve product capabilities.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Core areas (must have):

  • Product Lifecycle Management – Experience supporting products or services through multiple lifecycle phases including development, deployment, operation, support and enhancement within secure or mission-critical environments.
  • Product Governance & Assurance – Experience supporting product decisions, change control, lifecycle reviews and governance activities to ensure products remain aligned with customer, operational and business objectives.
  • Roadmap & Prioritisation – Ability to define priorities and maintain a product roadmap aligned to customer, operational and business outcomes.
  • Requirements & Capability Definition – Experience translating user, customer or operational needs into product capabilities and requirements.
  • Technical Understanding – Broad technical familiarity with RAN based signaling protocols, containerisation and microservices, to engage effectively with architects and engineering teams and make informed product decisions.
  • Mission-Critical Systems – Experience working with secure, high-availability or mission-critical products, platforms or services where resilience, performance and operational continuity are essential.
  • Stakeholder Management – Ability to build relationships and influence customers, users, engineers, delivery teams and business stakeholders.
  • Value & Outcome Focus – Ability to understand customer and operational outcomes and use these to guide product priorities, investment decisions and roadmap planning.
  • Decision Making & Trade-Offs – Ability to balance competing priorities, technical constraints, risks, supportability and opportunities.
  • Communication & Leadership – Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate product direction, priorities and rationale.


Desirable:

  • Experience with mission-critical communication platforms, public safety dispatch systems, Knowledge of RAN network functionality and core signaling protocols, or telecoms signaling protocols.
  • Experience working with customers to shape future capability, roadmaps or product evolution.
  • Knowledge of Mission critical communications and their high level benefits and constraints.
  • Experience supporting applications across on-premise, hybrid and cloud environments (e.g. AWS).
  • Exposure to MCX / MCPTT, control room platforms, or emergency services communication systems.
  • Familiarity with Jira Service Management or other ITSM tooling.
  • Knowledge of enterprise IT services such as Active Directory, PKI/KMS and monitoring platforms.
  • Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
  • Industry certifications such as ITIL, AWS, Azure, Product Management, Agile or Architecture-related certifications.
  • Awareness of relevant industry standards, including 3GPP standards and mission-critical communications frameworks.
  • Experience working within secure, government, defence, emergency service

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this will include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or  NPPV3. Location

This role can be based at one of our UK sites Bristol, with hybrid/custom working options where appropriate. Travel will be involved in the role.
