Structural Steel Material Handler / Crane Operator

Starting Pay: $22.00/hour, with higher pay available based on experience
2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour
Position Overview
We are hiring a versatile Material Handler / Crane Operator to support structural steel operations in both the shop and yard. This position involves moving and staging steel, loading and unloading trailers, operating material-handling equipment, and assisting different areas of production as needed.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors, operating heavy equipment, and adjusting to changing priorities throughout the workday.
Responsibilities
Move, stage, and organize structural steel and other materials throughout the shop and yard.
Operate overhead cranes to safely position and transport steel.
Use forklifts and Pettibone/telehandler equipment for material movement.
Assist with trailer jockeying and general yard organization.
Load and unload trailers and properly stage incoming materials.
Skid materials and prepare steel and other items for shipment.
Operate production equipment or machinery when needed.
Clean parts and materials to keep them ready for production.
Assist with inventory control and tracking of materials and supplies.
Follow all equipment operating procedures and workplace safety requirements.
Provide material-handling support to other departments to keep production moving.
Maintain reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Qualifications
Previous overhead crane operating experience.
Experience operating Pettibone/telehandler equipment.
Material handling or warehouse experience preferred.
Some experience working with structural steel.
Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Able to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing assignments.
Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
Manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus.
Willingness to learn new equipment and take on different responsibilities.
