Risk & Assurance Lead

Job Description Summary

The Risk and Assurance Lead provides senior risk-informed assurance, change leadership, and advisory support, with a strong focus on driving change initiatives, special projects, and priority work that supports leadership decision-making. The role requires strong commercial and operational acumen, end-to-end ownership, confidence in managing ambiguity, and the ability to remain effective as priorities evolve.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role will take ownership from problem definition through to execution, follow-through, and stakeholder communication. It will support the function lead by shaping approaches, coordinating cross-functional inputs, preparing senior-ready outputs, and proactively progressing work across changing business priorities.

About the Role:

• • Lead and deliver complex risk, assurance, change, and special project initiatives, with a strong emphasis on financial risk management (an essential skill for the role), financial controls, compliance, and governance.
  • Analyze assurance outcomes to identify emerging risks, systemic issues, and improvement opportunities, providing actionable insights to support management decision-making.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to assess, communicate, and mitigate financial and operational risks, driving effective risk management and change outcomes.
  • Enhance assurance frameworks, methodologies, and reporting practices while coaching team members and supporting continuous improvement across the risk function.

About You:

• Bachelor’s degree in risk, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline; professional certification is strongly preferred.
• Typically, 7–10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent capability gained through senior roles in risk management, assurance, audit, compliance, or a regulated professional environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross‑functional assurance activities with significant business or stakeholder impact.
• Strong advisory capability, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders through insight and judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for senior management and governance forums.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities, balancing structure with flexibility, and proactively keeping work moving without close supervision.
• Strong ownership mindset, sound judgment, and proactive follow-through, with the ability to support leadership on priority initiatives beyond routine BAU activity.
