Über diese Quantum Algorithms & Resource Estimation Scientist Stelle bei Quandela

Quandela · Vor Ort · Massy, Île-de-France, France

- About Quandela:

Quandela is a European deeptech scale-up building modular, scalable, energy-efficient photonic and spin-optical quantum computers.

Our quantum computing platform is accessible both via the cloud and on-premises.

With a team of more than 140 people, we develop the entire quantum computing stack, from semiconductor quantum emitters and photonic processors to quantum control systems and algorithms.

Our ambition is to build large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computers capable of solving problems beyond the reach of classical computation.

Achieving this vision requires continuous advances across the full stack, including the design, evaluation and practical application of next-generation quantum algorithms for both today's quantum platforms and tomorrow's fault-tolerant systems.

- About this position:

For this position, you will join the ALPS (Algorithms & Applications) team, where quantum algorithms, applications and hardware architectures come together to explore how quantum computing can create long-term scientific and industrial value across a broad range of application domains.

Working closely with colleagues across the Quantum Acceleration Program, as well as with Quandela's Quantum Information, FTQC, Software and Hardware teams, you will contribute to collaborative R&D projects alongside leading academic, institutional and industrial partners.

Your work will focus on evaluating advanced algorithmic approaches beyond the NISQ era, with a particular emphasis on fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, modern algorithmic primitives and resource estimation.

You will assess the feasibility, scalability and implementation costs of these approaches for Quandela's spin-photonic quantum computing architecture, helping shape future technology roadmaps.

- What You'll Do:

As a Quantum Algorithms & Resource Estimation Scientist, you will contribute to the evaluation, adaptation and practical assessment of advanced fault-tolerant quantum algorithms for future large-scale photonic quantum computers.

Your work will include:

  • Explore and evaluate fault-tolerant quantum algorithms and modern algorithmic primitives.
  • Study approaches such as Block-Encoding, QSP, QSVT and Hamiltonian Simulation.
  • Perform resource estimation studies to assess feasibility, scalability and resources.
  • Adapt quantum algorithms to Quandela's spin-photonic QC architecture.
  • Collaborate with FTQC, Quantum Information and Architecture teams.
  • Contribute to collaborative R&D projects with academic and industrial partners.
  • Monitor advances in FTQC algorithms and resource estimation methodologies.
  • Communicate research through reports, publications, conferences

- How You Will Grow?

First 3 months:
Develop a solid understanding of Quandela's spin-photonic QC architecture, the FTQC roadmap and the objectives of the Quantum Acceleration Program.
Contribute to your first research project, building hands-on experience in fault-tolerant quantum algorithms and resource estimation.

Within 6 months:
Take ownership of your project and contribute independently to algorithm evaluation and resource estimation studies.
Broaden your involvement across additional research activities within the ALPS team while building strong collaborations throughout the Quantum Acceleration Program.

Within 1 year:
Become a key contributor to Quandela's long-term research on fault-tolerant QC.
Drive collaborative R&D initiatives across Quantum Information, FTQC, Software and Architecture teams.
Contribute to Quandela's scientific visibility through publications, conferences and technical exchanges.

Requirements

- Ideal Profile:

We are looking for a scientist or engineer with a strong theoretical background in quantum algorithms and fault-tolerant quantum computing. You enjoy bridging advanced algorithmic research with practical questions around scalability, implementation and future quantum computing architectures.

  • PhD or Postdoctoral research experience in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantum Information, Quantum Computing or a closely related field.
  • Experience with modern fault-tolerant algorithmic primitives and frameworks, such as Block-Encoding, QSP, QSVT, Qubitization, Hamiltonian Simulation or related approaches.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with resource estimation methodologies for fault-tolerant QC, acquired through research, algorithm implementation or collaborative scientific projects.
  • Experience with scientific programming, numerical simulations and algorithm implementation.
  • Ability to critically assess scientific literature and identify approaches with practical relevance for future fault-tolerant quantum computing.
  • Communication and collaboration skills - Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluent in English (French is not required).

Bonus Points

  • Experience with logical compilation, FTQC software frameworks, resource estimation libraries or related open-source quantum software projects.
  • Experience contributing to collaborative R&D projects involving academic, institutional or industrial partners.
  • Experience communicating scientific results through publications, conferences or technical presentations.
  • Familiarity with photonic quantum computing or photonic quantum architectures is appreciated but not required.

Benefits
