Description of Position
The Bioinformatics Program is seeking a qualified candidate to develop and teach a micro-credential in Proteomics and Metabolomics Applications.
The micro-credential consists of courses in Overview of Proteomics and Metabolomics: Mass Spectrometry Analysis, Statistical Analysis and Interpretation of Proteomics Data, and Statistical Analysis and Interpretation of Metabolomics Data.
The curriculum focuses on the study of proteins and metabolites and their roles in biological systems. Topics include proteomics and metabolomics workflows, mass spectrometry-based technologies, protein and metabolite identification, biomarker discovery, biological pathways, experimental design, omics data processing, statistical analysis, data visualization, biological interpretation, and multi-omics integration. Students develop practical skills using contemporary bioinformatics, computational, and analytical tools to analyze and interpret proteomics and metabolomics datasets and address real-world challenges in biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, precision medicine, and life sciences research.

Duties Will Include
- Development and delivery of curriculum, laboratories, and learning activities for bioinformatics micro-credentials.
- Preparation and delivery of course materials and instruction.
- Maintaining office hours and availability to consult with students.
- Evaluating student performance and providing constructive feedback.
- Supporting student projects involving proteomics, metabolomics, biological data analysis, and bioinformatics applications.
- Attending meetings in the Program and College.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the Bioinformatics Program and micro-credential offerings.
Education and Experience
- MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Proteomics, Metabolomics, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related discipline; PhD preferred.
- Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas including proteomics, metabolomics, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, omics data analysis, or systems biology.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting proteomics and/or metabolomics datasets using contemporary computational and statistical approaches.
- Industry or research experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, bioinformatics, proteomics, metabolomics, or related fields is an asset.

- Excellent understanding of and ability to teach fundamental concepts in bioinformatics, life sciences, proteomics, and metabolomics.

- Computer literacy, including experience with bioinformatics software, biological databases, mass spectrometry data analysis platforms, statistical analysis tools (R, Python, or equivalent), data visualization tools, and scientific computing environments.

Temporary, part-time position.
