Full Stack Software Engineer, Mid

The Opportunity: 

We are seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to support the development of technical solutions for our wargaming and modeling and simulations team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building software, learning new technologies, and working independently within a small technical team.

The software engineer will contribute across the application stack, including user interfaces, back-end services, and data integration, testing, and deployment. You’ll work with users and technical team members to understand requirements and build practical software solutions. You’ll develop and maintain web applications across front-end and back-end components, build back-end services, APIs, and application logic using Python, develop user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks and languages, and integrate applications with databases, APIs, geospatial data, and other data sources. You’ll write, test, debug, and maintain reliable software, and perform other responsibilities, including using Git and collaborative software development workflows, researching unfamiliar technical problems and evaluating new tools and approaches, and contributing to application deployment, automation, and technical documentation.

This role is more than just coding. As a full-stack developer at Booz Allen, you’ll use your passion to master new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements. You’ll help clients overcome their most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches, tools, and technologies. You’ll make sure the solution developed by the team considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements.

You Have: 

• 3+ years of experience with full-stack software development, including designing, developing, modifying, and implementing custom software applications
• 2+ years of experience with common web development frameworks such as React, JavaScript, Python, NodeJS, SQL, Middleware, Application or Data Integration, API Development, or Core Application Systems
• Experience with object-oriented programming, software testing, and dependency or package management
• Experience working with non-relational and relational database development, including PostgreSQL
• Experience with Git and source control
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins
• Experience with application containerization using Docker or Podman
• Ability to independently research technical problems
• Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software Engineering, or a STEM field

Nice If You Have: 

• Experience with geospatial visualization frameworks such as Cesium JS, ArcGIS, Leaflet, or Mapbox or Maplibre GL
• Experience with AWS deployments, including ECS or EC2
• Experience with system design, including scalability and reliability
• Experience with API development and OAuth
• Experience working with DoW problem sets, including modeling and simulation, systems engineering, operations analysis, and wargaming
• Ability to simplify complex concepts and distill information into coherent and compelling narratives, making it accessible to a broad audience
• Top Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
