Dementia Support Australia, with the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre, delivers the DREAM project to build workforce capability in respite dementia care. DREAM Dementia Support Coaches work with staff in community and residential aged care through on-site visits, remote support, observation, modelling, and reflective dialogue. They provide tailored education based on DREAM modules, delivering both group sessions and individual mentoring. Coaches collaborate with staff, leaders, and stakeholders to ensure support is relevant, context-specific, and aligned with service needs. The role requires autonomy, adaptability, and a strong commitment to person-centred, psychosocial dementia support. 

 
This role is offered as a Fixed Term Contract until June 2028. This role can be based out of either our Chermside QLD or Malvern VIC offices!

Responsibilities 

• Dementia Support Coach will facilitate on the ground support, implementation of relationship-based support strategies, modelling and coaching with clients, carers and care staff. 

• Work collaboratively with peers to develop the skills, expertise and/or applied knowledge of aged care staff and carers to understand the person living with dementia and develop best practice support and care. 

• Support the implementation of the recommendation plans on the ground, drawing on modelling and coaching techniques, and seek guidance from Team Leader, Dementia Consultant and Senior Consultant as required. 

• Facilitate and support the trial and implementation of brokerage items with clients and their carers, and seek guidance from Team Leader, Dementia Consultant and Senior Consultant as required. 
   

What do we need from you? 

• Strong organisational abilities, including effective time management and ability to prioritise in a busy work environment and competing demands. 

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 

• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service principles including conflict resolution to ensure the consistent provision of exceptional service to internal and external customers 

• A current driver’s licence and safe driving record 

• Willingness to travel and work intrastate and interstate for up to five days at a time to support the delivery of DC services. 

• Willingness to work flexible hours at times and as required to meet the assessed needs of clients and carers. 

• Qualification in relevant field; Allied Health assistant, Diversional Therapy,  Enrolled Nursing (EN), Aged Care, Cert III or IV in Individual Support / Leisure and Health or similar highly desirable
