NMI is looking for a dynamic and motivated Corporate Counsel to join our legal team! This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading Fintech company, advising on a wide range of commercial agreements and corporate issues within a fast-growing and supportive environment.
As Corporate Counsel you will work across a diverse scope of legal matters — from drafting and negotiating agreements that support our US and UK-based sales teams, to handling data protection requests and compliance matters. You will play an integral role providing business-minded legal advice to teammates across NMI by negotiating vendor agreements, advising on contracting models, product design, compliance, corporate governance, and other legal issues. You will also help maintain and develop the business's template agreements, contract review guidebooks, and respond to NMI's evolving legal needs.
This is a remote role reporting to the Associate General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements to support NMI's US and UK-based sales teams, including customer proposals and NDAs.
- Provide practical, business-oriented legal and commercial contract advice directly to colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Support data protection requests and assist in handling and managing various data compliance matters across the business.
- Negotiate vendor agreements and advise on contracting models, product design, compliance, corporate governance, and other legal issues.
- Maintain and develop the business's template agreements, contract review guidebooks, and other legal resources to meet NMI's evolving needs.
- Identify opportunities to create and improve upon legal processes to drive efficiencies across the team.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- 2+ years of legal experience, whether at a law firm or in-house.
- Attorney with a JD and membership in good standing in at least one state bar association.
- Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal and commercial contract advice directly to colleagues at all levels.
- Creative and strategic thinker who can create and improve upon processes to drive efficiencies.
- Experience with, or willingness to, work on corporate and commercial matters in both the US and the UK.
- Quick learner who is comfortable navigating new and unfamiliar matters.
- Thrives while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Operates independently and can act decisively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in-house at a fast-growing technology company or advising FinTechs at a law firm.
- Strong interest in and awareness of the payment industry sector, and SaaS contracting models.
- Payment industry or account-to-account payment experience is a plus (but not required).
- Privacy expertise, including familiarity with the GDPR. CIPP/E or CIPP/M certification is a plus (but not required).

This is a remote role with an annual US base salary range of $150,000 – $180,000 USD. This salary range will be narrowed during the interview process based on experience, qualification, and location.
