Role Description 

Zócalo Health is hiring a Senior Associate of Strategic Finance to join our team and partner closely with executive leadership to drive financial planning, operational rigor, and strategic decision-making across the company. This role sits at the intersection of FP&A, business strategy, and operational finance, and will leverage data to enhance decision-making, help guide critical strategic decisions, evaluate new opportunities, and scale the business.

The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical foundation from investment banking, venture capital, private equity or consulting, combined with experience operating within a high-growth technology company. This person will work cross-functionally with leaders across product, engineering, and operational teams. We are looking for someone who is driven, intellectually curious, and motivated to push the business forward - someone who thrives in ambiguity and proactively identifies opportunities to create impact. 

This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance.

The Senior Associate will contribute in the following ways:

• Financial Planning & Forecasting
• Manage and continuously improve the month end close and forecasting process
• Maintain and evolve the Company’s operating model across revenue, expenses, headcount, and cash
• Develop scenario models to support planning, investment decisions and board discussions
• Business Performance & Executive Insights
• Provide leadership with clear insights into Company performance and key drivers
• Lead financial budget vs. actual performance reviews with executive team members
• Translate financial results into actionable insights for the executive leadership team
• Develop executive-ready reporting analysis that track the Company’s most important KPIs
• Strategic Analysis & Company Growth Initiatives
• Support leadership in evaluating the Company’s most important strategic decisions
• Partner with the executive team to evaluate new products, partnerships, and growth initiatives

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience, including 3+ years in investment banking, venture capital/private equity, or consulting, and 2+ years in a healthcare startup focused on FP&A or Strategic Finance
• Experience operating in a high-growth, early-stage company environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to partner with executive leadership
• Ownership mindset with a focus on building, improving, and scaling systems and processes

Role Description 

Zócalo Health is hiring a Controller to join during a period of rapid growth and increasing operational complexity. This is a critical leadership role responsible for building and owning the company’s accounting foundation, ensuring audit readiness, and partnering closely with executive leadership as we scale.

The Controller will own the end-to-end accounting function, establish scalable systems and controls, and lead the company through its first annual audit. This role will play a key part in strengthening financial infrastructure, improving visibility, and supporting strategic decision-making.

This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Finance.

The Controller will contribute in the following ways:

• Own and lead the full accounting function, including AR/AP, general ledger, close, and financial reporting
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, delivering accurate, timely, and board-ready financials
• Prepare the company for and lead the first annual audit, including auditor coordination, documentation, and process readiness
• Design, implement, and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance and RCM on budgeting, forecasting, revenue recognition, and cash management
• Select, implement, and optimize accounting systems and tools to support scale
• Build scalable, automated processes to support a high-growth, fast-paced operating environment
• Own technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition and complex transactions as the business evolves

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
• Experience operating in a high-growth, early-stage company environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience preparing companies for audit
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• Experience managing external audits and working with auditors
• Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks), expense platforms (e.g., Ramp, Bill.com), and advanced Excel
• Familiarity with payroll and HRIS systems (e.g., Rippling, TriNet)
• Experience with multi-state compliance and tax considerations
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to partner with executive leadership
• Ownership mindset with a focus on building, improving, and scaling systems and processes

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading a company through its first annual audit
• Experience in healthcare, managed care, or revenue cycle management environments
• Experience implementing NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems
