ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Image Specialist, you will contribute to xAI's mission by training and refining Grok's ability to interpret and generate compelling and tasteful visual content. Key to this role is expertise in photography, digital art, or design, a track record of producing and sharing visual work, and experience with generative AI for images.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use proprietary software to provide labels, annotations, and inputs on projects involving images and visual media.
Deliver high-quality curated data that captures visual nuances and enhances Grok's understanding of composition, lighting, color, and style.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Portfolio displaying excellence in visual work - photography, digital art, illustration, graphic design, or similar (personal website, X account, Behance, Dribbble, ArtStation, DeviantArt, etc.).
Strong skills in composition, lighting, color theory, and visual storytelling.
Hands-on experience with AI image generation tools (Grok Imagine, Midjourney, Nano Banana, Flux, Stable Diffusion, or similar).
Ability to critically analyze and articulate what makes an image work or fail.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal English skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience in photo editing, retouching, or post-production workflows.
Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques for image generation models.
Background in art direction, visual critique, or creative feedback roles.
Familiarity with ComfyUI workflows.

LOCATION AND OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

Tutor roles may be offered as full-time, part-time, or contractor positions, depending on role needs and candidate fit.
For contractor positions, hours will vary widely based on project scope and contractor availability, with no fixed commitments required. On average most projects may involve at least 10 hours per week to achieve deliverables effectively though this is not a fixed commitment and depends on the scope of work. Contractors have full flexibility to set their own hours and determine the exact amount of time needed to complete deliverables.
Tutor roles may be performed remotely from any location worldwide, subject to legal eligibility, time-zone compatibility, and role specific needs.
For US based candidates, please note we are unable to hire in the states of Wyoming and Illinois at this time.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

US based candidates: $45/hour - $75/hour depending on factors including relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications. International candidates: Information will be provided to you during the recruitment process.

As a 3D Specialist, you will contribute to xAI's mission by creating high-quality 3D content that supports the development of Grok's visual understanding capabilities. Key to this role is expertise in 3D modeling, lighting, and animation, a track record of producing polished 3D work, and a refined aesthetic judgment in visual composition and technical execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use industry-standard 3D software to create assets, characters, environments, and animations according to project specifications
Deliver high-quality work that demonstrates strong technical fundamentals and artistic sensibility
Collaborate with technical staff to understand project requirements and iterate on deliverables efficiently.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Portfolio displaying excellence in 3D work, such as game assets, animations, architectural visualizations, or VFX shots (personal website, ArtStation, Sketchfab, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).
Strong skills in modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, and animation.
Experience setting up environments and animating cameras.

Portfolio displaying excellence in video work - edited shorts, motion graphics, VFX breakdowns, compositing reels, or similar (personal website, YouTube, Vimeo, X account, ArtStation, etc.).
Strong skills in video editing, pacing, color grading, and narrative flow.
Hands-on proficiency with tools such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Nuke, or similar.
