TEGNA is looking for a dynamic, business-minded HR Business Partner for a great opportunity supporting an innovative media company. You will support HR activities across stations within Texas, to include employee relations, talent management, performance management, and employee engagement.
The HRBP must be results-oriented and partnership focused, with an approach that is responsive to and aligned with business strategies. You will be instrumental in facilitating an employee-oriented, high performance, diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership teams on organization and culture change, transformation initiatives, succession planning, etc.
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on employee advocacy/engagement, employee relations management, performance management, career development, talent assessment, acquisition and retention and workplace investigations as appropriate
- Champion diversity; drive and lead efforts to promote a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Partner with the stations and TEGNA leadership to develop policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce.
- Work effectively with Human Resources, business colleagues and leadership team regarding recruitment, performance management, restructuring, coaching, training and special projects.
- Work collaboratively with Human Resources colleagues on special projects and initiatives and best practice sharing.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation, legal issues and compensation claims
- React productively to change, effectively work at an operational level with multiple stakeholders, and act quickly and confidently under pressure.
- Understand and adhere to local, state and federal laws regarding employment, wage and hour, OSHA and related laws.
- Identify and analyze employee relations infractions and provide recommendations for resolutions.
- Provide excellent customer service in terms of responsiveness, time management and communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Human Resources or related degree. Master’s degree or HR certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of HR generalist/HRBP experience is required.
- A working knowledge of employment laws and multi-level recruitment experience.
- Proficient knowledge/ability with all Microsoft Office Applications
- Record of success advising managers on the full range of HR/people issues.
- Strong ER knowledge with a proven track record in navigating and resolving employee performance concerns, cultural misalignments, policy violations, and ethical infractions.
- Demonstrate professional presentation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly establish effective relationships, collaborate, lead and influence.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and deliver results for multiple stakeholders
- Strong ethical standards and integrity.
- Moderate travel to support our other smaller market stations in Texas.

KHOU-TV in CBS is looking for a dynamic and engaging Meteorologist to join our passionate team. This position is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate weather reports on-air and online in a conversational manner. The key responsibility is the ability to gather and analyze information and alert our audiences about what’s going to happen with weather in their community. We are looking for a team player who can help with every aspect of meteorology, from forecasting, to preparing graphics, to reporting in the field, you will be an integral part of severe weather coverage, and reaching our consumers not only on TV, but online and on social media. The ideal candidate embraces new technology and is willing to explore new ways to present the weather story. As a central member of the WX department, the ideal candidate is a team player who participates in brainstorming and planning for future shows, including important weather events and explainers.
You should know how to distill weather stories into easy to understand videos optimized for social media, and be flexible when it comes to getting in front of changing conditions in a fast-pace news environment. Strong weather presentation graphic skills are a must with experience using WSI software. Live storm chasing experience and environmental reporting will set you apart from other qualified candidates. Ability to work weekends and non-traditional shifts expected.

The Broadcast Director will partner closely with news, production, and technical teams to deliver fast-paced, compelling, and high-quality newscasts. We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to think ahead and problem-solve in real time.
This is a temporary position, with the potential to support coverage needs across various shifts, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily live newscasts and recorded shows using both automation and manual switching
- Oversee the overall look and execution of newscasts and on-air programming
- Identify and resolve potential issues before they go to air
- Troubleshoot technical systems as needed during live and recorded productions
- Use non-linear editing and content management systems for programming, commercial, and digital content
Requirements

This hybrid role combines the skills of an assignment editor and a digital content producer to serve as the hub of the newsroom. The Story Desk Editor drives daily editorial execution, curates and produces impactful stories, and ensures our content connects authentically with audiences across streaming, digital, social and broadcast platforms.
Role Summary
As a Story Desk Editor, you will be part of the Story Management Desk (SMD), a unified desk that replaces the legacy assignment and digital desks. The SMD model ensures a single, streamlined workflow for planning, producing and curating stories across platforms.
You will lead coverage during breaking news, shape daily story planning, and curate content across platforms. This position requires decisive editorial judgment, strong writing skills, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines. You will collaborate with MSJs, producers and photojournalists to deliver accurate, relevant and engaging stories that serve the community.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and communicate newsroom coverage during breaking news, ensuring accuracy, urgency and balance
• Identify and plan stories that matter most to the community, using editorial judgment and social listening
• Create and edit engaging content for digital platforms: website, mobile app and streaming,
• Guide newsroom logistics and provide editorial support for MSJs, producers, and photojournalists
• Edit reporter content for accuracy, grammar, AP style, digital best practices, fairness and ethical considerations
• Enhance storytelling with creative elements (graphics, video, audience-submitted content, etc.)
