The Super-Sod DOT Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing our fleet of power units, trailers, piggyback lifts, and other logistics equipment. This full-time role plays a critical part in ensuring our transportation operations run smoothly and meet all safety and DOT compliance standards.

This job operates in exposure to direct sunlight and weather 50% of the time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This job also operates in an office and, in most cases, from a remote maintenance shop location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and digital filing cabinets.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. We’re looking for an Assistant Sod Farm Manager to help oversee daily operations and support the production of high-quality turf-grass. In this role, you’ll work closely with the farm manager to coordinate crews, maintain equipment, and ensure efficient, timely harvests. If you’re proactive, detail-oriented, and thrive in an outdoor, team-focused environment, we’d love to hear from you.
As a Super-Sod Assistant Farm Manager, you will be responsible for leading machine operators and farm crews in the day-to-day operations of harvesting and other farm-related activities. You’ll play a key role in maintaining productivity and efficiency across the farm, ensuring that people, equipment, and materials are working in sync. Your leadership will help drive continuous improvement, with a strong focus on both customer satisfaction and team performance.

Under limited supervision, the Special Operator position implements optimal, cost-effective machine operator processes and methods in accordance with specific and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to operator processes, methods, and controls.
Essential Functions:

1. Operates various mechanical equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, loaders, and irrigation equipment.
2. Operates towed machines such as fertilizer spreader, box blades, and land leveling equipment.

4. Improves operator processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
5. Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members.
6. Assists farm manager in improving a system of production control, standard machine operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
7. Helps with maintaining farm buildings and equipment.
8. Operates various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended operator methods.
