About the team

Our global Finance and Strategy team (F&S) are strategic business partners to Stripe’s leaders, providing clear insights which simplify the complexity of the business, and drive the key operating forums to enable effective decision-making.

What you’ll do

We're looking for a F&S Analyst to join our growing team. This individual will help us with the forecasting budgeting and reporting for various departments accurately and in a timely manner and deliver improvements in our integrated financial systems with business partners, finance colleagues, and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Leverage your financial background to support and influence key strategic and business decisions
• Design and provide analytical rigor to measure efficiency and ROI of investments in headcount and non-headcount expenses
• Drive reporting, process and discipline for finance routines to shape and influence decision-making (e.g. budget, forecast, monthly reviews, long-range plans)
• Build and own models for in-depth analyses, as well as ensure their quality, timeliness, and accuracy
• Define metrics and leading indicators of business performance
• Partner with Data Science teams to develop reporting dashboards
• Drive continuous process improvement, standardization, simplification and reporting enhancements

Minimum requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience in strategic finance or FP&A 
• A keen analytical eye and experience building integrated models from scratch (in Excel or other planning applications)
• Experience driving and executing on finance processes (e.g. budget, forecast reviews, negotiations, investment analysis)
• A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners
• A proven ability to be a self starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision
• The ability to maintain high performance under tight timelines and a “roll up your sleeves” mindset to get any job done
• The ability to bring structure to ambiguous areas of opportunity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze problems and data sets to make complex investigation decisions
• Strong knowledge of gSuite tools, Salesforce and MS-Office products and experience working with/analyzing contracts and large data sets.

• Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results

About the team

Stripe's Finance & Strategy team is hiring a Finance Analytics Analyst. This role requires a finance professional with strong FP&A capabilities, technical data skills (SQL, BI tools), and demonstrated AI adaptability. The individual will own financial planning, variance analysis, and P&L reporting for assigned business areas while using data and technology to deliver high-quality financial insights. This role reports into the Finance & Strategy Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Own P&L reporting and analysis for assigned product lines, business units, or functional cost centers
• Lead monthly and quarterly planning, forecasting, and close processes
• Perform variance analysis (actuals vs. budget, actuals vs. forecast, period-over-period) with clear identification of root causes and business drivers
• Track and reconcile accruals vs. actuals; ensure accuracy and completeness in financial reporting
• Support annual budgeting, long-range planning, and scenario modeling
• Build and maintain financial models for business case analysis, investment decisions, and resource allocation
• Partner with business teams to provide financial perspective on operational and strategic decisions

Data Analytics & Reporting

• Write SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data from financial systems and data warehouses
• Build and maintain financial dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent BI tools
• Develop data models that integrate financial and operational data for planning, forecasting, and performance reporting
• Automate and standardize recurring reports to reduce manual effort and improve consistency
• Navigate complex, high-volume data environments (trillions of transactions across products and geographies) to extract relevant financial signals
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all financial outputs

AI-Augmented Working

• Use AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, and similar platforms) as part of workflow for analysis, coding, report building, dashboard prototyping, and problem-solving
• Apply an AI-first approach to new tasks, evaluate where AI can accelerate delivery before defaulting to manual methods
• Contribute to team-wide AI adoption by sharing effective workflows, prompts, and use cases

Business Insights & Communication

• Prepare executive-level reports on financial performance, trends, and key metrics with clear conclusions and recommendations
• Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support strategic initiatives and leadership decision-making
• Translate data and financial analysis into actionable business recommendations for finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Track and interpret key financial and operational metrics including revenue, processing volume, take rate, costs, margins, and unit economics

Requirements

Financial & Business Skills

• 5–7+ years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, strategic finance, or corporate finance roles
• Strong understanding of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and the ability to connect them into a complete financial picture
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning cycles
• Working knowledge of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, cost allocation, and reconciliation processes
• Fluency in financial metrics: revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, operating leverage, unit economics

Technical & Data Skills

• Must Have: Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis from relational databases and data warehouses
• Must Have: Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent BI tools for dashboard development and reporting
• Must Have: Advanced Excel / Google Sheets — financial modeling, scenario analysis, pivot tables, complex formulas
• Preferred: Python or R for data analysis, automation, or analytical workflows
• Ability to work with large, complex datasets across multiple data sources

What You'll Do

Financial Data Analytics & Modeling

• Design, build, and maintain financial dashboards for FP&A, Revenue Operations, and GTM teams using Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
• Develop automated financial reporting solutions that reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy
• Create sophisticated data models to support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and scenario planning
• Build predictive models for revenue forecasting, customer lifetime value, churn analysis, and unit economics

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Partner with Finance Business Partners and FP&A teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Design and implement data infrastructure for financial planning cycles (monthly/quarterly reviews, annual budgets, long-range planning)

Data Engineering & Analytics Infrastructure

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Must Have: Expert-level experience with at least one BI tool (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Qlik)
• Must Have: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling)
• Preferred: Python or R for data analysis, automation, and statistical modeling
• Preferred: Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks)
• Preferred: Knowledge of ETL tools (dbt, Airflow, Fivetran) and version control (Git)

• Experience in data analytics within finance, FP&A, or revenue operations functions

• Knowledge of key financial metrics: ARR, MRR, bookings, revenue recognition, CAC, LTV, gross margin, EBITDA
• Experience with financial planning processes: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, scenario modeling
• Understanding of SaaS/subscription business models and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606 preferred)

Analytical & Problem-Solving

• Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets and derive meaningful insights

• Experience supporting GTM analytics (sales forecasting, pipeline analysis, quota setting)
• Familiarity with finance systems: NetSuite, Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, Salesforce, Stripe Billing
• Exposure to data science methodologies and machine learning concepts
• Previous work in cross-functional environments collaborating with finance, data science, and business teams
