Our Service Reliability Engineering team plays a significant role in delivering on the promise of a great cloud gaming experience to our customers. We do this by influencing design and operational decisions towards the overall stability of the gaming service.
We expect our SREs to have opinions on the state of our network, what we are doing right, and what can be improved. They are empowered to say when new features are ready for production, and work with other teams to ensure the quality of production releases. As an SRE, you will provide technical guidance and be able to influence decisions about the S/W engineering process as well as provide guidance in operational processes. In this leadership role you will be influencing the outcome of Service Delivery and S/W automation engineering.

We are seeking a Manager of Technical Operations Support (TOS) and Hardware Fleet Operations (HFO) to lead two critical teams responsible for operational support, hardware reliability, and the scalability of our global infrastructure. This role ensures seamless coordination between global support operations and localized technical expertise, enabling both rapid issue resolution and long-term system stability. By connecting distributed teams with deep technical operations, this leader plays a key role in delivering reliable, world-class cloud gaming experiences at scale.
This role is based in Aliso Viejo, CA.
This role is responsible for leading two complementary but distinct functions:
A globally distributed Technical Operations Support (TOS) team, providing 24/5 operational coverage across regions
A U.S.-based Hardware Fleet Operations (HFO) team, focused on Linux-based hardware systems and deeper technical troubleshooting
The ideal candidate will balance global team leadership, operational rigor, and technical depth, ensuring seamless support coverage, strong cross-regional coordination, and high-quality hardware operations.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop both a globally distributed TOS team and a locally based HFO team, adapting leadership approaches to meet the needs of each group.
Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching, and support career growth.
Manage staffing, scheduling, and coverage models, ensuring effective follow-the-sun operations and strong regional handoffs.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across geographies.
Technical Operations Support (TOS)
Oversee ticketing operations across regions, ensuring SLA adherence and consistent support quality.
Drive effective cross-regional handoffs, communication, and escalation management.
Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are well-documented, consistently followed, and globally aligned.
Monitor operational metrics and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reliability at scale.
Hardware Fleet Operations (HFO)
Lead a California-based team responsible for supporting Linux-based hardware systems across the global fleet.
Oversee advanced troubleshooting efforts that go beyond documented workflows.
Partner closely with engineering teams to investigate recurring issues and improve system stability.
Ensure operational readiness and supportability of hardware platforms, including lifecycle considerations.
Operationalization & Continuous Improvement
Drive the transition of operational responsibilities from engineering into TOS and HFO, ensuring scalability and long-term ownership.
Establish and maintain high-quality runbooks, SOPs, and troubleshooting documentation across both teams.
Identify and implement opportunities for automation, including lightweight scripting to reduce manual effort.
Enable TOS to handle repeatable tasks by improving documentation, tooling, and knowledge transfer from HFO.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as a key liaison between support, engineering, infrastructure, and other internal teams.
Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-impact operational issues.
5+ years of experience in Technical Operations, IT Support, or Infrastructure Operations, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
Experience managing distributed or global teams, including handling time zone coordination and operational handoffs.
Strong understanding of SLA-driven support environments and ticketing systems.
Hands-on experience with Linux systems and troubleshooting in production environments.
Experience supporting or managing hardware infrastructure or fleet operations.
Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
A mindset rooted in Extreme Ownership, with a focus on accountability and results.
Experience managing follow-the-sun or 24/5 operations models.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
Background in cloud, streaming, or large-scale distributed systems.

What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain high-performance C/C++ services that power PlayStation experiences.
Develop features used across consoles, servers, and web services; own your code from design through deployment in Linux environments.
Profile, troubleshoot, and optimize complex, distributed systems.
Write clean, maintainable code using solid object-oriented design principles.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions with a global team.
What we’re looking for (required)
BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years of experience writing modern C/C++ for production systems.
Proficiency in Linux for development, testing, and deployment.
Experience with build and version control tools (e.g., CMake, Git).
Demonstrated debugging skills in large codebases and performance-critical paths.

Senior Service Reliability Engineer
Location: Aliso Viejo | Hybrid
As a part of Sony Computer Entertainment, the Gaming, Developer and Future Technology Group (GDFT) is leading the cloud gaming revolution, putting console-quality video games on any device, from TVs to consoles to mobile devices and beyond.
Our Service Reliability Engineering team plays a significant role in delivering on the promise of a great cloud gaming experience to our customers. We do this by influencing design and operational decisions towards the overall stability of the gaming service. Our SREs focus on three main things: overall ownership of production, production code quality, and deployments. The successful candidate will be self-directed and able to participate in the way we make decisions at different levels.
We expect our SREs to have opinions on the state of our service and provide critical feedback during different phases of the operational lifecycle. We are engaged throughout the S/W development lifecycle, ensuring the operational readiness and stability.
Responsibilities
Taking a leadership role in ongoing improvements in Reliability and Scalability
Work closely with SRE Management to define KPIs, processes and drive continuous improvement
Influence the architecture and implementation of solutions within the division
Mentor more junior SRE staff and enable them for success
Act as a voice to represent SRE in the wider organization
Represent the operational scalability of solutions in the wider division
Lead small-scale projects from inception to implementation
Design platform-wide solutions and provide technical leadership during their implementation
Demonstrate a high-level of organizational skills and initiative in the role
Qualifications:
Minimum of 7+ years working experience in Software Development and/or Linux Systems Administration role.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Available to be scheduled in on-call rotation.
Proficient as a Linux Production Systems Engineer, with experience managing large scale Web Services infrastructure.
Development experience in one or more of the following programming languages:
Python (preferred)
Bash, Go, Java, C++, or Rust

Senior Software Engineer - Performance & Tooling
The vision
As a Senior Performance & Tooling Engineer, you will design and build advanced performance testing and monitoring tools. Your work will enable development teams to measure, optimize, and scale system performance across Linux, CPU, DPU, and PCIe environments. This role offers the opportunity to work on deeply technical, low-level engineering challenges that have a direct impact on product performance and reliability.
What you’ll do
Design, build, and own a performance tooling suite across CPU/DPU/PCIe.
Develop load generators to saturate PCIe, NICs, and storage paths; model real-world and worst-case network/storage traffic.
Instrument the stack with Linux perf, ftrace, and eBPF to capture timings, contention, cache/memory effects, and I/O paths.
Create repeatable experiments to characterize throughput, latency, jitter, tail behaviors, and scalability limits.
Build automated performance testbeds and CI pipelines that run on every change (smoke, regression, soak, and chaos scenarios).
Establish golden signals, SLOs, and dashboards; visualize trends and regressions for fast triage.
Perform deep root-cause analysis across userspace, kernel, drivers, and firmware; propose and land fixes.
Collaborate with kernel, networking, storage, and hardware teams to optimize across the x86-64 microarchitecture and PCIe topologies.
You’re a great fit if you have

Identify recurring operational issues and work with engineering teams to stabilize and operationalize support workflows.
Create, update, and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and internal documentation based on real-world support findings.

At Sony Interactive Entertainment, our data center operations team plays a critical role in supporting the infrastructure behind a global gaming platform. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on in production environments, contribute to large-scale infrastructure deployments, and develop strong operational expertise within a high-performing global team.
Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Data Center Operations Engineer to support our production data center environments. This role is part of the Data Center Operations team and is responsible for the hands-on deployment, maintenance, and support of infrastructure within live production facilities. The primary focus of this position is day-to-day data center operations — including hardware installations, break/fix activities, inventory management, and operational process support. This role works closely with Systems Engineering and Network Engineering teams to provide reliable on-site infrastructure execution in support of critical production services.
This position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working in live environments, and a disciplined approach to change management and operational standards.
Deploy (rack and cable) new server and infrastructure hardware across data center locations.
Perform hardware break/fix activities including replacement of drives, RAM, CPUs, power supplies, and other server components.
Troubleshoot and support existing infrastructure to ensure production environments remain stable and operational.
Maintain accurate asset inventory and lifecycle tracking records.
Support vendor RMA processes and coordinate hardware returns and replacements.
Assist in documenting and refining operational processes and procedures.
Coordinate with Procurement to track hardware orders and deliveries.
Support structured cabling activities to ensure installations meet defined standards.
Execute approved change activities in live production environments in accordance with change management procedures.
Provide on-site support to Systems and Network Engineering teams during deployments and maintenance windows.
2+ years of experience working in a production data center environment.
Hands-on experience deploying and supporting server hardware.
Experience replacing hardware components such as drives, RAM, CPUs, motherboards, and power supplies.
Familiarity with asset management tracking and reporting.
Understanding of vendor RMA processes.
Strong understanding of data center operational best practices.
Working knowledge of change management principles in online production environments.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
Comfortable working in hands-on environments, including lifting and racking equipment up to 50 lbs unassisted.
Valid driver’s license required.
Up to 30% travel required with this position.
