Software Engineer II, Front End

PlayStation is looking for a Software Engineer to build our next-generation technologies and applications. This is a hybrid role. We offer a flexible work-from-home policy. In-person meetings may sometimes be required. Otherwise, you can work in the office as much or as little as you prefer. We also host many social and team bonding events in our Waterloo campus.
The team
This team focuses on building Payments client experiences for PlayStation consoles, websites, mobile applications and beyond. These features serve millions of users around the world. Responsibilities:
- Develop, test and document business critical features and applications
- Work with Product Owners and Product Managers to understand feature requirements, capture technical requirements and craft solutions for components and applications for the PlayStation ecosystem
- Passionate about quality and strives to improve processes, proposes standard methodologies and drives their usage within the teams
- Developing JavaScript-based applications for PlayStation gaming consoles, web, mobile and future flagship Sony devices and services
- Building digital commerce solutions for PlayStation games, media content, subscription services and more
- Write robust unit and component tests to ensure reliability and prevent regressions.
- Work quickly and optimally in a fast-paced ever-evolving environment
- Work independently and collaborate with internal and external engineers
- Work with other team members by reviewing and giving feedback on pull requests and design plans
- Define and refine technical approaches that support performance, accessibility, and scalability.
- Exercise your feature building capabilities and collaborate within your team to optimize existing solutions as well
- Deploying platform experiences through CI/CD pipelines
- Monitoring software releases, analyze telemetry, and adapt to production data
- Continuously learn, experiment, and bring forward innovative ideas — participate in Hackathons and Café Days to help shape the future of PlayStation experiences.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 3+ years of relevant work experience instead of a degree
- 2-3 years of building product experiences with proficiencies in UI technologies
- A passion for robust sustainable and high-quality code
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Capable of producing detailed design and development documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Using HTML, CSS, the JavaScript ecosystem and familiarity with popular frameworks like React, Angular, Jest, and TypeScript
- Familiarity with GraphQL, TanstackQuery, REST APIs, and containerization tools such as Docker.
- Understanding of build pipelines and CI/CD standards, especially across multiple platforms.
- Experience working with performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design principles.
- Curiosity about AI-assisted development tools or automation that improves developer efficiency

Job Title – Sr. Software Engineer (AEM)
Location – Ireland, Dublin
This is a phenomenal opportunity for a Senior Web Developer (AEM) to help build, lead, and scale SIE’s Martech Engineering team, and be responsible for the development of PlayStation.com and delivery of internal and consumer facing web applications. Our ideal candidate will be a highly effective and motivated AEM developer who can participate and contribute to the entire software development lifecycle including analysis, technical design, implementation, testing and deployment of the applications. They will work closely with architects, developers, quality engineers, DevOps to support and enhance our digital platform. The role will deliver assigned tasks/solutions on time and escalate issues when appropriate, including educating and leading others in the form of code reviews, workshops, and documentation.
What you'll be doing:
- The Senior AEM developer will play a vital role in the development, design, testing and deployment of AEM Assets and Sites, as well as Adobe Marketing Cloud tools.
- Share new concepts, strategies, and innovative approaches to development execution that will have a significant impact on the project.
- Provide deep knowledge expertise in AEM and working knowledge of Adobe Target and Analytics.

What we're looking for:
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent experience with Software Engineering.

- 8-10 years of recent and progressive experience in AEM Content Management, AEM developer tools.
- Strong experience with AEM building blocks including templates, components, dialogs, widgets, and bundles.

Staff Site Reliability Engineer

As a key leader of the Commerce - Technical Operations team, you will help drive the availability and enablement for PlayStation Store, Catalog, Entitlement, Pricing and Device Management platforms. You will partner closely with product engineering teams to deliver innovative player features and elevate operational excellence for millions of players worldwide.
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include hands-on application management within a public cloud environment, ensuring availability, resiliency, scalability and performance. You will work side by side with our service development teams to develop, automate and ensure the production readiness of all new services and features introduced.
- Review and influence service architecture and system design to improve resiliency, fault tolerance, and scalability. Establish and promote best practices across engineering teams.
- Own and evolve Infrastructure-as-Code for managed services (AWS, GCP). Design and build scalable, reusable modules and automation that standardize provisioning, configuration, and operations
- Improve and develop production-grade automation, and tooling to improve measureable outcomes in operational process, manual toil, MTTx reduction, etc.
- Increase observability across the platform by implementing robust monitoring, logging, and tracing patterns. Build actionable dashboards and define meaningful alerting strategies that reduce MTTD and MTTR while minimizing noise.
- Leverage service telemetry and historical data to anticipate capacity needs, detect anomalous behavior, and proactively prevent incidents. Develop data-informed approaches to performance optimization and reliability engineering.
- Lead performance and capacity planning initiatives. Apply cloud-native patterns (e.g., auto-scaling, spot capacity, container orchestration with EKS) to optimize cost, performance, and availability at scale.
- Contribute code to shared repositories and platform components improving reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate across SIE with a variety of engineering, product, security and PMO teams to drive reliability improvements and ensure consistent operational standards across PlayStation services.
- Contribute to and help evolve reliability engineering practices, including SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and operational readiness standards.
- Provide rotational on-call support, including incident detection, triage, and resolution for production systems, with a focus on continuous improvement of system reliability.
- Lead post-incident reviews, producing clear root cause analyses and driving follow-through on corrective and preventative actions across teams.

- 10+ years of relevant SRE or operational work experience supporting a high-volume and/or critical production, software environment
- 10+ years of hands on software engineering or systems engineering experience (Java and/or React services)
- 5+ years of experience with building automation into daily operational processes through one or more programming languages (preferably Python or Go).

This is a hybrid role. We offer a flexible work-from-home policy. In-person meetings may sometimes be required. Otherwise, you can work in the office as much or as little as you prefer. We also host many social and team bonding events in our Madison campus.

This team focuses on building client application experiences for PlayStation consoles, websites, mobile applications and beyond. These features serve millions of users around the world. Responsibilities:
- Develop, test and document business critical features and applications
- Work with Product Owners and Product Managers to understand feature requirements, capture technical requirements and craft solutions for components and applications for the PlayStation ecosystem
- Passionate about quality and strives to improve processes, proposes standard methodologies and drives their usage within the teams
- Developing JavaScript-based applications for PlayStation gaming consoles, web, mobile and future flagship Sony devices and services
- Building digital commerce solutions for PlayStation games, media content, subscription services and more
- Write robust unit and component tests to ensure reliability and prevent regressions.
- Work quickly and optimally in a fast-paced ever-evolving environment
- Work independently and collaborate with internal and external engineers
- Work with other team members by reviewing and giving feedback on pull requests and design plans
- Define and refine technical approaches that support performance, accessibility, and scalability.
- Exercise your feature building capabilities and collaborate within your team to optimize existing solutions as well
- Deploying platform experiences through CI/CD pipelines
- Monitoring software releases, analyze telemetry, and adapt to production data
- Continuously learn, experiment, and bring forward innovative ideas — participate in Hackathons and Café Days to help shape the future of PlayStation experiences.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 3+ years of relevant work experience instead of a degree
- 2-3 years of building product experiences with proficiencies in UI technologies
- A passion for robust sustainable and high-quality code
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Capable of producing detailed design and development documentation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Using HTML, CSS, the JavaScript ecosystem and familiarity with popular frameworks like React, Angular, Jest, and TypeScript
- Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot is a bonus
- Familiarity with GraphQL, REST APIs, and containerization tools such as Docker.
- Understanding of build pipelines and CI/CD standards, especially across multiple platforms.
- Experience working with performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design principles.
- Curiosity about AI-assisted development tools or automation that improves developer efficiency
