What You’ll Do
As a Staff RF Systems Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for RF product development and validation at SimpliSafe. You help design and build SimpliSafe’s RF capabilities in our goal to have the best-in-class wireless connectivity in the industry. You will work closely with the engineering teams to choose chipsets as well as optimize mechanical and electrical designs for RF performance. You will also lead and guide our ODMs design partners in the design, test, and qualification on new products.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain the performance metrics for all wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, BLE, Radar, and Sub-GHz), ensuring they align with product requirements.
- Build SimpliSafe’s RF testing capabilities including test plans and equipment selection.
- Lead and audit ODM design partners through the test and qualification phases. Review their test reports with a critical eye to ensure no corner cases are missed.
- Lead the characterization of wireless chipsets and antenna systems to validate vendor claims and ensure suitability for SimpliSafe’s unique hardware constraints.
- Act as the RF consultant to Electrical and Mechanical teams, validating that board layouts and mechanical enclosures don't degrade RF integrity.
- Review PRDs, and author RF technical requirements to meet product requirements.
- Drive the development of automated test scripts to increase validation coverage and repeatability.
- Root causing RF field related issues.
Qualifications:
- Deep expertise in:
- Validating radio and front-end performance across 400MHz to 70GHz bands, with a specific focus on high-reliability consumer electronics.
- Proven ability to translate Product Requirements into technical RF specifications.
- Advanced skills in debugging desense, interference, and coexistence issues in multi-radio environments.
- Encoding methods and modulation schemes such as OFDM, Frequency hopping, QAM, GFSK, UWB, convolution encoding, STBC.
- Expert-level operation of VNA, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Wideband Radio Communication Testers (i.e. IQxel, LitePoint, or Rohde & Schwarz).
- RF emission requirements and testing for FCC, ETSI, Radio and Emission qualifications.
- Debugging RF issues. Setting up, running and evaluating of TIS, TRP, BER, Return Loss, Desense, radiation patterns, etc
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in RF/Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in RF design, development, and validation, with a proven track record of bringing products to market.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with an ability to tackle complex, ambiguous problems.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
- RF simulation tools like CST or HFSS.
- Familiarity with common MAC Layer protocols. WiFi, BLE, Zigbee, Z-wave etc or be willing to learn and build expertise in this area.
- Familiarity with MAC level protocol analyzers.
- Familiarity with cellular communications.
- Python or MATLAB skills for data analysis and test equipment automation.

The target annual base pay range for this role is $118,600 to $174,000.
This target annual base pay range represents our good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this role. What You’ll Do
As a Embedded Software Engineer II specializing in Wireless Networking, you will be a focused on the Systems Engineering task of optimizing SimpliSafe’s Wireless communications systems to optimize performance, resilience and power. You will be a critical contributor to our product development, focusing on the intricate world of IoT device connectivity. This role demands a profound understanding of not only wireless radio and communication stacks but also the entire networking stack, from the physical layer up to the application. You will be responsible for debugging complex issues and meticulously optimizing every layer of the network stack to achieve unparalleled performance, reliability, and power efficiency in our cutting-edge IoT and camera devices.
This is a hands-on role where you will dive deep into firmware, analyze network traffic, and collaborate closely with hardware, software, QA and cloud teams to deliver robust and highly optimized wireless solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Full Communications Stack Network Debugging & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity, throughput, latency, and reliability issues across the entire networking stack, from the wireless radio (PHY/MAC layers) through TCP/IP and up to the application layer on embedded IoT devices.
- Protocol Implementation & Tuning: Implement, port, and optimize low power wireless (802.11, HaLow, Thread) and TCP/IP protocols to meet specific performance, power, and memory constraints of embedded systems.
- Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth performance analysis of wireless and networking stacks, identifying bottlenecks and proposing innovative solutions for optimization (e.g., retransmission strategies, buffer management, concurrency, power management, scheduling).
- Root Cause Analysis: Perform detailed root cause analysis of intermittent and hard-to-reproduce networking issues using advanced debugging techniques and tools.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware engineers to characterize RF performance, integrate drivers, and troubleshoot hardware-firmware interactions. Collaborate with application software developers to ensure seamless integration and optimal use of network services.
- Testing & Validation: Define and help develop and comprehensive test plans for wireless our QA and Automation teams to include unit, integration, and system-level tests.
- Stay Current: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in wireless technologies, networking protocols, and embedded systems.
- Travel: Willing to travel to Asian manufacturing partners 1-3 times per year
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development with a strong focus on wireless networking.
- Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Deep understanding of the entire TCP/IP networking stack (Layers 2-7), including Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, Thread, etc.
- Extensive experience with WiFi (802.11) protocols, including MAC layer operations, roaming, power saving modes, and coexistence.

- Lead the characterization of wireless chipsets and antenna systems to validate vendor claims and ensure suitability for SimpliSafe’s unique hardware constraints.
- Act as the RF consultant to Electrical and Mechanical teams, validating that board layouts and mechanical enclosures don't degrade RF integrity.
- Review PRDs, and author RF technical requirements to meet product requirements.
- Drive the development of automated test scripts to increase validation coverage and repeatability.
- Root causing RF field related issues.
Qualifications:
- Deep expertise in:
- Validating radio and front-end performance across 400MHz to 70GHz bands, with a specific focus on high-reliability consumer electronics.
- Proven ability to translate Product Requirements into technical RF specifications.
- Advanced skills in debugging desense, interference, and coexistence issues in multi-radio environments.
- Encoding methods and modulation schemes such as OFDM, Frequency hopping, QAM, GFSK, UWB, convolution encoding, STBC.
- Expert-level operation of VNA, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Wideband Radio Communication Testers (i.e. IQxel, LitePoint, or Rohde & Schwarz).
- RF emission requirements and testing for FCC, ETSI, Radio and Emission qualifications.
- Debugging RF issues. Setting up, running and evaluating of TIS, TRP, BER, Return Loss, Desense, radiation patterns, etc
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in RF/Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in RF design, development, and validation, with a proven track record of bringing products to market.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

This is a highly collaborative position partnering closely with Infrastructure, Backend, Firmware, and Monitoring teams to ensure our validation platforms evolve alongside product and system complexity. As a Software Engineer II on SimpliSafe’s Video team, you’ll help build and operate the cloud-based systems that power live streaming and video recording for SimpliSafe cameras.
Our team owns the backend microservices that ingest, process, store, and deliver video in real time—serving customers, monitoring agents, and machine learning systems. We operate at scale and in a safety-critical domain, where reliability, performance, and simplicity matter deeply.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the validation platforms that power system-level confidence across engineering. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who thinks in systems, not scripts, and wants to solve complex platform and infrastructure challenges at the intersection of devices, cloud services, and automation.
This is a highly collaborative position partnering closely with Infrastructure, Backend, Firmware, Monitoring, and Product teams. It is ideal for an engineer who wants to have broad technical impact by building internal platforms and tooling that make validation faster, more reliable, and more scalable.

What You’ll Do
Join Simplisafe's User Systems team as a hands-on Manager of Software Engineering to lead one of our high-performing backend development teams. In this critical role, you will split your time between management—mentoring engineers, setting technical direction, and driving execution—and direct technical contribution, including coding, design, and architecture review. You will be instrumental in the successful delivery and operational excellence of our core backend services.
Primary responsibilities include
- Manage and mentor a team of 3-5 backend software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Computer Vision Applied Research Engineer to join our growing Edge AI team. As a key contributor, you will lead development of on-device machine learning for outdoor monitoring in the home security space. You will build and optimize computer vision models that run in real time on resource-constrained embedded devices like outdoor cameras and doorbell cameras, balancing accuracy with latency, memory, power, and reliability in challenging conditions (night, weather, motion blur, occlusions).
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end development of edge ML models for outdoor monitoring (e.g., person/vehicle/package detection, classification, tracking, segmentation, event understanding).
- Architect, train, and deploy transformer-based vision models (e.g., compact ViTs, hierarchical transformers, DETR-style detectors) and hybrid CNN-transformer backbones optimized for embedded inference.
- Drive model efficiency through resource-aware design and training, including:
- Architecture: Token/patch reduction, efficient attention variants, early-exit / conditional compute
- Training: distillation from large transformer teachers to edge students
- Compression: Quantization (PTQ/QAT), pruning, mixed precision, and operator-aware optimization
- Translate product requirements into model targets (accuracy, FPS, memory footprint, power/thermal) and ensure models meet budgets on doorbell/outdoor camera hardware.
- Partner with embedded/firmware and platform teams to integrate models into production pipelines; profile bottlenecks and improve end-to-end runtime performance.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine Learning Scientist to join our growing Engineering team. As a key contributor, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing cutting-edge machine learning models, with a focus on Computer Vision (CV), Multi-modal Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI to enhance our products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and fine-tune large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs) to address real-world challenges in the home security space
- Work with key stakeholders to identify key research initiatives that can have impact on business outcomes.
- Take research initiatives from idea generation to production.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to integrate capabilities into our existing systems.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in LLMs, VLMs, and multimodal systems. Evaluate new techniques for potential adoption and improvement of internal capabilities.
Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Experience training or fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) using modern frameworks.
- Strong grasp of deep learning, particularly transformer architectures and foundational model training techniques for text and vision modalities.
- Proficient in Python and relevant ML libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace Transformers).
- Hands-on experience in developing and deploying LLM- or VLM-powered applications.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), MCP (Model Context Protocol, Agentic AI and evaluation of generative models.
- Understanding of MLOps practices and how to scale experiments into production-grade solutions.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with speech recognition, natural language understanding, or natural language generation.
- Publication in posters, conference proceedings, journal articles, workshops etc.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Contributions to open-source NLP, LLM or CV projects.

The target annual base pay range for this role is $127,300 to $186,700.
This target annual base pay range represents our good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this role. We use a market-based compensation approach to set our target annual base pay ranges and make adjustments annually. We carefully tailor individual compensation packages, including base pay, taking into consideration employees’ job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and other relevant business factors.

About the Role
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and hands-on Staff Backend Software Engineer to drive the technical direction and architecture of our core backend systems. This role is a critical force multiplier, focusing on complex cross-team initiatives, technical strategy, and mentoring senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, review, and implementation of complex, large-scale, and highly available backend services and microservices.
- Serve as an active individual contributor, writing high-quality, maintainable code and tackling the most challenging technical problems.
- Define and drive improvements in performance, scalability, monitoring, and operational excellence, ensuring our systems meet demanding SLOs/SLIs.
- Work closely with Engineering Directors/Sr. Managers and Product Managers to define the long-term technical roadmap, identifying strategic investments in core infrastructure and managing technical debt.
- Act as the lead technical mentor and coach for multiple engineers, defining best practices, conducting rigorous code and design reviews, and raising the overall technical bar across the entire backend organization.
- Lead technical collaboration and coordination across different teams, resolving major technical blockers, and standardizing shared services and technologies.
- Take on increasing responsibilities related to process and project leadership, including driving quarterly planning, leading post-mortems, and starting to formally participate in candidate interviewing and onboarding.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive professional software engineering experience, with significant time spent leading projects and driving technical direction.
- Mastery in designing, building, and operating distributed, high-volume backend systems and REST/gRPC APIs.
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Rust, Java, Go, Python, C#) with the adaptability to work with multiple languages.
- Proven ability to architect solutions using modern patterns, including event-driven architectures, domain-driven design, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expert knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and proficiency in operational tools for monitoring, logging, and CI/CD.
- Exceptional communication, documentation, and presentation skills, with a proven track record of influencing technical decisions across organizational boundaries.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and DevOps principles.
