As our Senior Operations Implementation Manager, you'll own the processes, systems, and AI-powered tools that make it all run brilliantly — and that set our student CEOs up to succeed. Working cross-functionally, you'll ensure consistent implementation of all cafe processes, drive continuous improvement through feedback tools, and lead the development of AI integrations and automations that advance peak operational efficiency across the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Operational Procedures, Standards & Systems: Own and maintain cafe SOPs and operational systems, serving as the Operations Team's voice by gathering feedback, identifying gaps, and driving continuous improvement.
• AI Tools, Integrations & Automations: Lead the development and rollout of AI-powered tools and workflow automations, serving as the organizational subject matter expert on AI adoption and continuously surfacing opportunities to streamline operations.
• Training, Curriculum & Student Leadership Development: Collaborate with L&D to update Level 1–4 training, SCEO Badge, and SCEO Camp content. Serve as HQ Sponsor for the SVP of Cafe Finance cohort — leading semester kickoffs, office hours, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed.
• Guest Recovery & Quality Assurance: Manage guest recovery tickets with 24-hour response standards and analyze feedback patterns to drive root-cause solutions. Review 10 Item Checklist and Quarterly Service Review results to surface improvements and recommend permanent fixes.
• POS Standardization & Implementation: Ensure accurate, consistent POS implementation across all cafes in partnership with Marketing, Product, IT, and Operations.

You've spent time in foodservice or hospitality operations — enough to understand what it actually takes to run a cafe, develop a team, and hit financial targets. But what sets you apart is what you've built above the cafe level: SOPs that stuck, training that landed, automations that saved real time. You're equally comfortable in a spreadsheet, a workflow builder, and a kickoff meeting — and you know how to translate messy operational realities into clean, scalable systems. Job Purpose: The New Market Cafe Manager or The New Market Leader is pivotal in helping Saxbys build cafe build community on a new campus and into a new market. New Market Leaders at Saxbys will operate a café through mastery of the Three Pillars; Team Development, Community Leadership, and Financial Management. They own and maintain full responsibility for the cafe’s Profit and Loss statements; building brand awareness and participating in partnership cultivation. 

They will also provide support to the café team from initial stages of recruiting and training through their tenure in-café; managing leadership training needs in their designated café by leading shadow shifts, in-classroom training, and virtual check-ins, and administering ServSafe Training & Exams. Our New Market Leaders inspire their teams to embrace Saxbys standards for hospitality, commitment to inclusivity, and Saxbys culture.

The New Market Leader for this position will operate out of our new café set to open at SUNY Plattsburgh, NY opening fall 2026. 

Summary of duties and responsibilities:

Team Development

• Plan and execute Grand Opening trainings for new and reopening cafes
• Manage talent lifecycle in the cafe through recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and coaching team members
• Be a servant leader by providing the tools the team needs, completing tasks alongside their team, and providing direction, clear goals, and motivation
• Coordinate with Trainers to plan and execute necessary trainings and offer ongoing coaching and feedback to the team
• Ensure a safe, equitable and inclusive work environment for all team members at all times
• Develop a pipeline of exceptional leaders in the cafe and build out a leadership team at the Certified level

Community Leadership

• Develop and lead community relationships to ensure that your Saxbys cafe is an integral part of the community that it serves
• Plan and execute community outreach initiatives to drive 4 wall top line sales
• Support Saxbys’ social impact mission of education and opportunity through team development and outreach efforts
• Instill and maintain a culture of hospitality and servant leadership
• Aid Academic Platforms in making time and cafe space available for partnership development activities, including cafe visits, and conversations on the Saxbys ELP

Financial Management

• Identify opportunities to meet and exceed sales goals, meet budgeted cost categories, and use operational tools and resources to increase profitability
• Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency
• Analyze and manage Three Pillars Reviews on a weekly basis and Profit and Loss Statements on a monthly basis and put feedback into action

Operational Support

• Consult with and communicate interdepartmentally to maintain training and operational resources and address the operational needs of the cafe
• Manage shifts and shifts changes effectively through proper scheduling
• Utilize and implement all Saxbys tools, policies and procedures
• Assist in the preparation and service of menu drinks and food items
• Ensure ServSafe standards are upheld to maintain café cleanliness including all service spaces, guest seating areas, and bathroom facilities
• Appropriately execute administrative work to support café operations:
• Manage cash by preparing daily cash deposits
• Monitor and manage cost of goods sold through proper inventory and waste management while upholding product availability standards
• Take lead on ordering and invoicing for product and supplies
• Create weekly schedules to maintain an appropriate labor percentage based on café volume
• Ensure the safety of the café, guests, and team members
• Serve as a liaison between Saxbys HQ team and café-level team, connecting the team to Saxbys Mission and Core Values
• Abide by Saxbys standard operating procedures and ensure that all Cafe team members follow suit

• Coaching & Development: Train and develop Student Chief Officers to lead operations at their prospective campus cafe each semester. 
• Talent Pipeline: Interview and hire roles across the cafe to ensure the team is fully staffed to meet operational demands and identify and develop exceptional talent for leadership roles.
• Cafe Standards: Remain up-to-date on all cafe operations in order to train and coach on all cafe roles. Make SOPs easily accessible to the team and maintain operational integrity by ensuring team members are following all listed steps. Ensure SCEOs are following progressive discipline policies and issuing Coaching & Counseling forms when necessary, as well as advise and assist with involuntary terminations. Hold SCEOs accountable to consistent communication channels with their team. 
• Guest Experience: Conduct regular quality assurance checks, audit performance to look for and correct inconsistencies in execution, and maintain a culture of hospitality within the cafe.
• Financial Management: Review, provide feedback, and approve weekly schedules to ensure labor hours are both aligned with demands and stay within budgeted expenses, coach SCEOs on how to read and act upon Profit & Loss statements, and present and defend P&L during reviews for assigned cafes. Produce and assign Labor Models to assigned cafes. 
• PARS & Inventory: Ensure accuracy in inventory counts and review and approve Orders & PARS Inventory Worksheet for all assigned cafes.
• Partner Management: Represent Saxbys as the main point of contact for College & University Campus Partners:, Dining Service Partner leads, Auxiliary Services, Residential Life, etc. to ensure day to day operations run smoothly and maintain Campus Resource Guide with up-to-date information.
• Cafe Openings: Manage café setup and initial grand openings as the Operations lead, working closely with all departments to ensure a successful start. 
• Local and Competitive Marketplace: Stay current with industry trends, local competitors, and community updates that may have an impact on the business in order to take a proactive approach when it comes to managing cafe operations.

• Marketing: Provide intel on opportunities on campus through research and communication with partners. Support SCEO through the refinement of the Campus Marketing Plan to focus efforts on  highest potential ROI and ensure execution of key dates and deliverables. 
• Head of Area Operations: Assist with academic partners, requested reports, and special projects.
• Recruiting: Nominate, vet, and assist internal student candidates in the SCEO pipeline, complete final interviews for candidates, and effectively communicate hiring needs to Campus Recruiters. Participate and collaborate on initiatives to increase the candidate pool.

• 30%+ of the cafe staff are Team Leads
