Role Overview 

The Site Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Bay Area Pilot Manufacturing Facility. This is a hands-on, ownership-oriented role critical to the safe, efficient, and reliable functioning of our site. The ideal candidate is a resourceful problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously — from negotiating with our landlord to overseeing complex infrastructure projects.

Core Responsibilities 

 Facility Ownership & Operations 

• Serve as the primary point of contact and owner for all aspects of the Bay Area Pilot Facility 

• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work environment in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations 

• Develop and manage a preventive maintenance schedule for all facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and security 

• Maintain accurate records of facility assets, maintenance history, vendor contracts, and compliance documentation 
• Proactively identify and address facility risks before they become operational issues 

Landlord Relationship & Financial Management 

• Serve as the primary liaison with the building landlord and property management team 

• Ensure all lease obligations are met, including timely payment of rent and associated facility-related bills (utilities, janitorial services, etc.) 

• Review and reconcile facility invoices and expense reports; flag discrepancies and manage within budget 

• Track and manage lease terms, renewal options, and any CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations 
• Coordinate with Rondo management to ensure proper budget tracking and forecasting for all facility-related costs 

Facility Improvement & Capital Projects 

• Plan, scope, and manage facility improvement projects including utilities routing (electrical, gas, compressed air, data), equipment installation, and space build-outs 

• Source, vet, and manage contractors and subcontractors; obtain competitive bids and ensure work is completed on time and on budget 

• Develop scopes of work, manage project timelines, and communicate progress to internal stakeholders 

• Coordinate with internal engineering and operations teams to ensure facility infrastructure meets current and future manufacturing needs 

• Oversee permitting processes and ensure all construction/installation work meets applicable building codes and safety standards 

 Vendor & Trade Management 

• Identify, onboard, and manage service vendors including janitorial/cleaning crews, licensed plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, pest control, and general maintenance contractors 

• Establish and maintain preferred vendor lists with negotiated service agreements and SLAs 

• Provide feedback to service providers and resolve any issues promptly 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to ensure priority response times and favorable pricing 

 Space Planning & Procurement 

• Source and procure office furniture, general shop equipment, and other facility supplies to support space build-outs and reconfigurations 

• Collaborate with team leads and operations staff to understand evolving space needs and proactively plan for changes 

• Manage inventory of facility supplies, consumables, and janitorial/safety stock 

• Coordinate moves, adds, and changes (MAC) within the facility with minimal disruption to operations 

 Safety & Compliance 

• Partner with Rondo EHS to own the facility’s EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) compliance program, including emergency action plans, fire safety, and hazardous materials management 

• Ensure all required inspections, certifications, and permits are current (fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, first aid, etc.) 

• Partner with Rondo EHS to maintain and regularly update the facility’s safety data sheets (SDS) library 

• Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to identify and remediate safety hazards 

• Act as the facility’s point of contact for emergency situations and coordinate with emergency services as needed 

 Security & Access Control 

• Manage facility access control systems including key cards, alarm codes, and security cameras 

• Maintain and update access rosters in coordination with HR and Operations 

• Serve as the primary contact for the building security and alarm monitoring services 

Qualifications 

 Required 

• 5+ years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a manufacturing, R&D, or industrial environment 

• Demonstrated experience managing facility improvement and construction projects with external contractors 

• Working knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire/life safety 

• Experience managing service vendor relationships and negotiating service contracts 

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with landlords, contractors, and internal leadership 

• Self-starter with a high degree of ownership and accountability — comfortable operating with minimal oversight 

• Proficient in standard productivity tools (Microsoft Office, project tracking tools) 

• Experience managing and tracking facility budgets and expenses 

 Nice to Have 

• Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain); experience operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment 

• Experience in a startup or early-stage company environment 

• Familiarity with California building codes, permits, and regulatory requirements 

• Background in EHS compliance and safety program management 

• Prior experience supporting pilot manufacturing or R&D facilities 

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification 

Location & Working Conditions 

• Location: Bay Area, California (on-site, full-time) 

• This is a hands-on role requiring regular physical presence in the facility 

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be comfortable working in an active manufacturing/shop environment

The estimated annual salary range for this role is $130,000 to $150,000 and it would be eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above plus additional compensation in the form of equity. About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the end-to-end development, optimization, and scaling of manufacturing processes for our modular thermal battery storage system. This role is central to transforming prototypes into reliable, cost-efficient products manufactured at scale through outsourced partners.

You will own key manufacturing processes, drive the creation of high-yield, high-quality production methods, and build strong feedback loops between design, manufacturing, and field teams to continuously improve product performance and manufacturability.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an engineer who excels in new product introduction (NPI), advanced manufacturing, and building scalable production systems for complex hardware.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):  

Manufacturing Process Development & Optimization

• Develop, optimize, and validate the assembly process for the modular thermal battery system from prototype through scaled production.
• Build virtual process models using value stream mapping, process flow software, and simulation tools to evaluate alternative configurations and process scenarios.
• Lead the development of standardized, data-driven production processes using IoT, SPC, and modern manufacturing analytics tools.

Production Readiness & Cross-Functional Integration

• Collaborate closely with design engineering, supplier quality, sourcing, and manufacturing partners to transition designs into robust, scalable production.
• Own Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) guidance, influencing mechanical and thermal subsystem design to enhance quality, cost, and throughput.
• Drive iterative learning from field performance back into product and manufacturing process improvements.

Tooling, Equipment, and Documentation

• Define, procure, and implement tooling, jigs, fixtures, test equipment, and process automation required for reliable, high-yield assembly.
• Develop and maintain build documentation, assembly instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and supplier qualifications.
• Support packaging, logistics, and pre-commissioning validation through coordination with field deployment teams.

Cost & Schedule Ownership

• Own module-level manufacturing costing—including CAPEX, OPEX, labor, utilities, facilities, scrap, and throughput assumptions.
• Provide inputs to BOM development, installation timelines, and overall project planning.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience developing manufacturing processes and equipment for new hardware products; experience in startup or high-growth technology environments strongly preferred.
• Proven experience managing full-lifecycle equipment or automation projects—including scoping, design, installation, commissioning, and budget oversight.
• Hands-on technical ability with a track record of debugging, troubleshooting, and improving new production lines or early-stage processes.

As Performance Engineer, you will directly support operations of the Rondo Heat Battery fleet ensuring performance expectations are met. You will develop a strong understanding of the core technology and its operating philosophy to serve as a keytechnical reference for both host site operators and other Rondo teams.  This position requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams, including those in different timezones. As the Rondo fleet spans across several continents, candidates must have flexibility to work across multiple time zones and travel internationally as required. 

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to): 

• Performance Tracking and Optimization: You will support the regular tracking and reporting of operational KPIs to management/customers on a weekly basis to communicate units’ technical and commercial status relative. You will work with the controls and engineering team to develop and implement methods to improve performance at the project and product level.  

• Performance Optimization: You will work with the controls team to develop  

• Operations Supervision: You will support the remote monitoring of operating units and analyze data trends to identify potential issues and improvements. You will be primary point of contact with the site operators and facilitate day-to-day implementation of operating plans. 

• Commissioning, Outage, and Restart Support: You will provide critical support during project commissioning, outages, and restarts, ensuring a smooth transition from commissioning to full operational handoff as well as the implementation and commissioning of any product improvement retrofits.  

• Database & System Management: You will maintain key operational databases. Including: 

• Incident database to track, investigate, and resolve all operational incidents. 

• Lessons learned worklist where ideas for control or design improvements are tracked and developed with the Engineering team to inform design changes or improvement retrofits.  

• Troubleshooting & Process Safety Management: You will provide rapid troubleshooting support for incidents that may emerge in the field. Your field experience will be critical in supporting Root Cause Analyses and HAZOPs in close collaboration with internal safety, quality and engineering disciplines to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions. 

What You Will Bring: 

• 3+ years’ experience in operations 
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline

• Experience in operations of utility scale CSP, waste heat/biomass plants, conventional steam power plants, or battery storage

  • Assess regulatory frameworks and upcoming reforms across countries, identifying risks and opportunities for Rondo deployment.
  • Partner with regional business development leadership to identify priority markets, understand barriers to entry, and refine expansion strategy. 

• Policy, Regulatory and Market Access Development 
  • Track how energy policy changes, including capacity markets, grid interconnection rules, curtailment rules, guarantees of origin, market redesign, and flexibility markets, impact sourcing strategy.
  • Develop a clear roadmap of regulatory and policy requirements that enable Rondo participation in target markets.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in power procurement, renewable project development, energy trading, utility origination, or commercial structuring within European markets. Experience in Australian and US markets is a plus.  

• Strong understanding of PPAs, wholesale power markets, renewable integration, and energy as a service commercial models. 

• Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial power supply contracts and navigating complex counterparties including IPPs, traders, utilities, and network operators. 

• Proven ability to independently develop market views, create actionable insights, and translate complexity into commercial recommendations. 

• Advanced Excel proficiency, including financial modeling and scenario analysis, along with strong presentation and techno economic writing skills. 

• Fluency in English. Additional European languages are a plus. 

This role can be located in London or Madrid with travel up to 25%.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Director  to help repower industrial heat at scale in North America. In this role, you will lead Rondo’s efforts in North America to originate, develop and close Rondo Heat Battery projects – from first customer engagement to contract signature, and commercial touchpoint through delivery & operations.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to): 

• Develop and grow a robust North America pipeline by originating new prospects and developing existing opportunities. 

• Identify priority customer segments, sector- and sub-region specific value propositions. 

• Build Rondo’s commercial ecosystem, including channel partners, industrial energy developers, power providers, regulatory touchpoints, financing partners. 

• Source customers through industry links, conferences, networks, channel partners and direct outreach as well as engaging with inbound customer outreach. Represent Rondo at key industry events and government or regulatory forums. 

• Qualify potential customers for product and value fit – understand strength of Rondo’s differentiated value proposition to the individual customer based on key project and market information (e.g., heat load, electricity markets and regulation, carbon value where applicable). 

• Prepare project analysis and customer material – financial models, proposals, contracts. Work with applications engineering team on technical analysis and project finance team on financing solutions. 

• Manage customer relationships, understanding customer decision making processes and navigating the path to close the project. 

• Maintain projects in CRM, advancing through project development stages, qualifying maturity and progress on key aspects (e.g., technical integration, electricity physical interconnection, electricity pricing). 

• Lead negotiations on key commercial documents through project life-cycle, e.g., Joint Development Agreement, Term-Sheet, Contract – with support from legal and project financing teams. 

What You Will Bring: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering  

• MBA or Masters degree in the Energy sector is a plus 

• Experience in commercial role, ideally working with industrial sector.  Preferences for experience with any of the following: 

• Commercializing new energy technologies, where the customer engagement includes helping them understand and quantify the value proposition, e.g., hydrogen, behind-the-meter BESS. 

• Large capital equipment or more generally large-scale project development 
• Energy as a service commercial models
   
• Preferences for any experience that has involved evaluating and articulating new value propositions, e.g., energy advisory. 

• Preferences for proven track record in lead creation, customer relationship nurturing, navigating a multi-individual decision-process in large organization, building a pipeline of repeat contracts – both independently and as part of a team. 

• Preferences for experience in structuring and negotiating commercial contracts in finding a deal’s solution space that solves for the needs of the customer and the company. 

• Familiarity with energy and commodity markets: electricity, gas, carbon (including carbon value in specific sectors such as e-fuels), etc. 

• Fluency in English is essential 

• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including project finance modelling and cash flow analysis, as well as strong skills in MS PowerPoint for developing high-quality professional presentations. 

• Excellent ability to prepare, write and present techno-economic analyses 

This role can be located in US or Canada - with a strong preference for Bay Area or Toronto, with travel within North America up to 25%, and to Europe for Commercial team offsites quarterly or semi-yearly.

This role can be located in US or Canada - with a strong preference for Bay Area or Toronto, with travel within North America up to 25%, and to Europe for Commercial team offsites quarterly or semi-yearly. If you are located in the Bay Area, the estimated annual salary range for this role is $200,000 to $230,000 and it would be eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above plus additional compensation in the form of equity.
