About the team
At Roku, as a Senior Data Scientists you will leverage Big Data to generate insights that fuel Roku’s most significant business decisions. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will also use a combination of technical skills, business intuition, and analytical thinking to partner with business leaders and provide actionable recommendations. Senior Data Scientists at Roku are thought partners to executive business leaders, so communication and presentation are enormously important. Senior Data Scientists do not take direction from business owners and execute ad-hoc questions. You will proactively identify the areas of the data and business that require attention and formulate analyses, insights, and recommendations based on an excellent command of the needs. About the role
Roku is looking for a Sr. Data scientist to join the Core Analytics team supporting the Operations team. As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will bring strong technical experience retrieving, manipulating, analyzing, and visualizing data. Just as importantly, you will bring excellent communication skills, proven collaboration track record, and business acumen.
The ideal candidate will have endless curiosity and can pair a global mindset with locally relevant execution. You should be a gritty problem solver and self-starter who can help drive initiatives with internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will display a balance of hard and soft skills, including the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs.
This role is hybrid and located in Austin, TX. Employees are expected to report to the office Monday - Thursday.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key metrics for operational and systems health
- Analyze structured and unstructured data and communicate insights to help stakeholders solve business problems, identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Develop data visualizations that illustrate complex platform phenomena using Looker, Tableau etc.
- Develop necessary data pipelines to power automation, validation and reporting.
- Use creativity to find proxies where verbatim data or measurement is unavailable
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data science initiatives with organizational goals and strategy design and execute AB tests
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data science to drive innovation
We’re excited if you have:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, data science or business intelligence role. Previous experience in Logistics, operations, product analytics is preferred.
- Excellent command of SQL and experience working with Big Data
- Experience coding in Python or R.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization platform like Tableau, Looker, or similar
- Statistics knowledge: A/B testing, statistical inference, interpretation of data
- Have a bias towards action in resolving issues and operate in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and independent minded individual who has a natural curiosity for understanding operations via data.
- Strong communication skills. Composes and communicates materials and information that is clear, concise, and appropriate to the intended audience.
- Excellent investigative skills with a passion for finding the root cause of an issue.
- The ability to work independently and across multiple time zones
- Ownership mindset, you own end to end lifecycle of a product starting from ideation, rollout to post-launch performance tracking
- Academic background in math, physics, computer science, economics

This role will specifically support the Device/OS Analytics team, partnering closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to drive data-informed decisions that enhance device performance, reliability, and user experience.
About the role
Roku is looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to play an instrumental role in helping Roku continue its success by providing end-to-end business intelligence solutions that democratize data across the business. You will work closely with analysts, data engineers, and business stakeholders to understand business questions, write robust pipelines to create analytical data assets, and use visualization to create informative reports and dashboards that allow stakeholders to answer questions quickly and with confidence. You will become an expert in our data infrastructure and create/maintain pipelines that are critical to conducting robust analyses. The ideal candidate for this role loves building tools and reports that empower others to make high impact decisions and tell stories with data.
What you will be doing
- Work directly with analysts and engineers to understand goals, gather requirements, and guide development of new data assets by producing robust feature guides
- Build and support robust data pipelines to support business tools and analytical needs and meet SLAs
- Conduct UAT on new tables
- Liaise with data engineers to understand and communicate the impacts of underlying changes in the data and update dependent pipelines
- Identify and fill gaps among our data assets and key metrics
- Serve as the resident expert in understanding the nuance of our data infrastructure for the analytics team. You will be the go-to-person when questions arise around the correct dataset, proper joins, bugs, etc.
- Create reports, dashboards, visualizations, and self-service tools that help partners monitor business trends and key metrics
- Monitor key metrics and business processes to identify trends and uncover root causes that drive business impact
We're excited if you have
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Technical Operations
- Master in SQL, Python, and ETL using big data tools (HIVE/Presto, Spark)
- Experience writing data pipelines using Airflow
- Fluency in Looker and/or Tableau
- Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, pipelines, and APIs
- AI experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to work independently and across multiple time zones

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $132,000-$187,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. About the team
The Core Analytics Team is a centralized function dedicated to providing data-driven insights to drive business and product success. We work closely with our Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to deliver exceptional experiences to our customers while maximizing the value proposition for the business.
About the role
Roku is looking for a Sr. Data scientist to join the Core Analytics team supporting recommendations and personalization products. In this role, you will leverage data analytics to support and improve our recommendations and personalization initiatives, identifying trends, mitigating risks, and providing actionable insights. You will work closely with product management and engineering to identify opportunities to create new features, drive their adoption, and generate value for Roku. This individual will investigate and develop solutions to track, monitor and improve our ecosystem. The successful candidate is quantitatively driven, detail-focused, and possesses an elevated level of problem-solving expertise.
For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $140,250 - $169,400 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.
What you'll be doing
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data science initiatives with organizational goals and strategy design and execute AB tests
- Translate complex analyses into clear executive narratives and dashboards, driving consensus on priorities and accelerating delivery across the board.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key metrics for operational and systems health
- Analyze structured and unstructured data and communicate insights to help stakeholders solve business problems, identify trends and make data-driven decisions
- Develop necessary data pipelines to power automation, validation and reporting
- Develop analytical tools (real-time alerts, models, etc.) to understand what drives success for our mobile platform
- Perform exploratory data analysis on emerging trends and execute advanced analysis across the Roku Platform
- Collaborate with the Program Management and Engineering team to proactively seek and incorporate feedback
- Providing feedback directly to leadership on performance of various initiatives and untapped opportunities
We're excited if you have
- 5+ years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or master's degree in quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or Computer Science)
- 5+ years of experience across consumer product, digital media or entertainment industries
- Expertise in SQL, SAS, R, Python or other programming language to query data and perform analysis
- Hands on experience with visualization tools like Tableau or Looker
- Have a bias towards action in resolving issues and operate in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Hands on experience in A/B testing and statistical modeling/forecasting
