Vetting Officer
Permanent, Full Time
Location: Houston
As leading maritime safety and environmental experts, RightShip has an ambitious vision to expand its influence in safety, sustainability and crew welfare using the best new innovation, digitalization and data-focused solutions.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, Americas, the Vetting Officer is responsible for providing a full range of administrative support to the vetting team and for dealing with routine enquiries from RightShip customers, including Ship Managers and Charterers.
Major Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for the Vetting team including daily monitoring and responding to e-mails and phone calls.
- Escalate critical issues as appropriate.
- Maintain the vetting database by receiving and inputting Port State Control and Incident data into the RightShip Platform in an accurate and timely manner.
- Review the quality of Root Cause Analysis, Corrective and Preventative Action plans submitted for Port State Control deficiencies, and if required engage with Ship Managers on the requirements for satisfactory close-out.
- Review the quality of investigation reports for incidents, adverse events, and if required engage with Ship Managers, RightShip customers on the requirements for satisfactory close-out.
- To assist, as directed by the regional operations manager, in supporting the Vetting Superintendents in relation to Vetting Operations.
- Manage routine vetting enquiries from external parties.
- Prioritize own workload, ensuring deadlines are achieved and a high quality of service to customers is maintained.
- Ensuring a high level of accuracy and data validation in respect of records maintained and tasks undertaken within the RightShip Platform System.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Mandatory - Chief Mate or Second Engineer (CoC) and have sailed on International Trading vessels for a minimum of 5 years.
- Must be able to demonstrate a strong background in safety - Oil Major/Tanker background preferable.
- Incident Investigation / Root Cause Analysis Training highly desirable.
- Experience in the role of Safety Officer desirable.
- Practical knowledge of ship construction, ship structures, ship machinery, ship repairing, ships’ operations, chartering and Quality Management System.
- A good understanding of ship surveys and certification including PSC, USCG, Flag State Surveys.
- A good understanding of International Legislation relevant to shipping (relevant IMO and ILO regulations) and the Industry Practices and ISM Code, STCW.
- A thorough understanding of vessel operations including current industry standards and recommended best practices (such as put out by OCIMF, ICS, Dry bulk, Chemical and Gas vessels).
- Excellent IT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Reporting to Head of Commercial, the role own and grow RightShip’s most significant enterprise accounts, delivering long-term value through integrated safety, ESG and risk intelligence solutions. The Enterprise Business Development Manager will both expand existing strategic relationships and originate new enterprise opportunities, positioning RightShip as a strategic partner in maritime risk reduction and sustainability performance.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Account Growth
- Lead the development and execution of regional enterprise commercial multi-year growth strategies for global strategic accounts.
- Drive retention and expansion of high-value enterprise contracts while identifying opportunities to extend RightShip’s solutions across the customer organisation.
- Drive the acquisition of new enterprise accounts through proactive prospecting and engagement with large global organisations.
- Lead complex deal cycles involving multi-product solutions and multi-region stakeholders.
- Identify and develop enterprise opportunities particularly within Ports and Terminals, including oil & gas and dry bulk terminals, where digital maritime solutions can improve safety, sustainability and operational risk management.
- Oversee the strategic management of high-value enterprise opportunities and contracts critical to RightShip’s commercial growth.
Executive Relationship Management
- Build trusted advisor relationships with Directors, Vice Presidents and C-suite leaders within enterprise organisations.
- Establish and maintain executive-level engagement across strategic accounts and new prospects.
- Navigate complex buying committees, governance structures and procurement environments typical of large global organisations.
- Collaborate internally with senior RightShip leadership including the Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Executive Officer when engaging strategic enterprise opportunities.
Complex Solution Structuring
- Lead the development of integrated commercial proposals across RightShip product lines aligned to enterprise customer needs.
- Structure multi-year enterprise agreements and scalable commercial models that support long-term customer value.
- Provide strategic guidance on commercial negotiations and contract structures within established governance frameworks.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Coordinate Legal, Product, Customer Success, Data and Finance teams throughout enterprise pursuits and contract negotiations.
- Provide enterprise insights to influence product roadmap priorities and future solution development.
Industry & Market Positioning
- Represent RightShip at global maritime and industry conferences and events.
- Maintain strong awareness of competitor positioning, market developments and emerging ESG regulations impacting maritime customers.
- Maintain industry awareness across key maritime sectors including Ports & Terminals, oil & gas and dry bulk logistics ecosystems.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Marketing or related discipline
- 8–12+ years enterprise B2B sales experience, including demonstrated success developing new enterprise accounts and expanding existing strategic customers.
- Strong maritime industry knowledge, with experience working with or selling into Ports & Terminals, particularly oil & gas or dry bulk terminal operators, considered highly advantageous.
- Proven success in closing complex, high-value enterprise deals involving multiple stakeholders.
- Executive presence and strong negotiation capability.
- Experience selling subscription-based, SaaS, data or digital platform solutions.
- Ability to engage effectively with senior decision-makers in global organisations.

Reporting to the Head of Customer Success, the Customer Success Manager, Enterprise (CSM, Ent) manages a portfolio of customer accounts and is responsible for driving customer value realisation, engagement and retention across the RightShip product suite.
The CSM, Ent will focus on the enterprise and mid-market segment of customers that require high-touch, dedicated service and support. The CSM, Ent will work closely in partnership with Sales Business Development Managers (BDMs) and Account Managers (AMs) to ensure our largest, most strategic accounts are realizing value.
The role ensures customers are successfully onboarded, supported and enabled to maximise the value of RightShip’s solutions throughout the lifecycle of their engagement. The Customer Success Manager acts as a trusted partner to customers, working closely with Sales, Product and Support teams to ensure strong adoption, proactive engagement and timely contract renewals.
The CSM plays an important role in maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying risks to retention, and supporting growth opportunities across the customer portfolio.
Major Responsibilities
CUSTOMER ONBOARDING AND IMPLEMENTATION
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customers during onboarding and implementation across the RightShip suite of products and services.
- Coordinate onboarding activities including account enablement, configuration, training and early adoption support.
- Guide customers through key product capabilities and ensure alignment between customer objectives and the value delivered by RightShip solutions.
- Ensure a smooth transition from Sales to Customer Success by supporting the handover of new accounts and confirming customer goals and success criteria.
CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT AND VALUE REALISATION
- Manage an assigned portfolio of customer accounts, maintaining regular engagement to ensure customers derive value from RightShip’s products and services.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customer stakeholders to understand their operational needs and priorities.
- Monitor customer usage, engagement and satisfaction to identify opportunities to improve adoption and overall customer outcomes.
- Proactively identify potential risks, blockers or issues affecting customer success and work with internal teams to resolve them in a timely manner.
- Act as the voice of the customer by gathering feedback and sharing insights with Product, Sales and other internal teams to improve solutions and customer experience.
CUSTOMER RETENTION & ACCOUNT HEALTH
- Support the achievement of customer retention and renewal targets by ensuring customers realise measurable value from RightShip’s services.
- Maintain visibility of contract timelines and work collaboratively with Sales teams to support timely renewals.
- Identify potential retention risks within the portfolio and escalate where necessary to ensure proactive mitigation.
- Track key customer success indicators including engagement, adoption and satisfaction across assigned accounts.
CUSTOMER SUPPORT & ISSUE MANAGEMENT
- Serve as the first point of contact for customer queries, product usage questions and service requests.
- Coordinate internally with Product, Platform Support and other teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain clear communication with customers throughout issue resolution and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Support the delivery of service levels and response standards expected by customers.
COMMERCIAL COLLABORATION
- Identify opportunities within the customer portfolio for additional value through product adoption, expanded usage or additional services.
- Collaborate with Sales teams to support customer discussions relating to upgrades, renewals or new solutions.
- Provide insights and context from ongoing customer engagement to support commercial conversations and account planning.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Marketing or related discipline
- 6–8+ years’ experience in customer success, account management, customer experience or client relationship roles.
- Experience working with SaaS platforms, digital products or maritime industry solutions is desirable.
- Strong ability to build relationships with customers and understand their operational needs.
- Ability to communicate product value and translate technical capabilities into practical customer outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple customer relationships simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
