About the Team:
The Propulsion team at Relativity is focused on developing and delivering highly performant and manufacturable engines for Terran R. Engineers are responsible for the entire lifecycle of their parts, from initial design through production to qualification and flight. The team fosters a culture of bottoms-up decision-making, free from technical gatekeeping, where ownership and accountability are key at all levels. But designing engines with a quarter million pounds of thrust is just the beginning. As the flight configuration enters qualification, the team is now exploring modifications for future engines, including thrust upgrades, new cycles, and design for mass production.
About the Role:
In this role you will be responsible for the design, analysis, development and qualification of flow control devices for the Aeon R engine and Terran R launch vehicle.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Design and analysis of clean sheet of cryogenic, pneumatic, proportional, or solenoid valves
- Detailed fluid, thermal, and structural analysis of piece parts and assemblies
- Development and qualification test planning and execution of internally developed valves
- Engine and vehicle test support for existing flow control products
- Conducting trade studies to produce architectures and designs that satisfy system requirements
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical or related)
- 2+ years of professional engineering experience
- Direct experience applying engineering fundamentals in thermodynamics, structures, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer
- Experience with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or C++
- Experience with CFD and FEA tools (ANSYS)

The Stage Fluids team designs and delivers the propellant, pressurant, pneumatics, and other fluid systems that turn structures into functioning rockets. The team has full ownership across design, production, test, and flight, maintaining a holistic view of Terran R, focused not on isolated parts but integrated functionality. Working on-site at the factory means you’re never far from the hardware, enabling rapid iteration and tight feedback loops across design and manufacturing. You won’t just be handed requirements: you’ll be expected to ask the right questions, collaborate with partners across the company, and ultimately find the best solutions for Terran R.
About the Role:

About the Role:
You will be a part of developing the architecture for the upcoming Terran R vehicle and will be responsible for charting the company’s path for gas storage on a reusable rocket- both near-term and long-term.
Here are some examples of projects you could be working on:
- Partnering with third-party vendors in the design and analysis of gas storage COPVs
- Working with other thermo-fluid engineers on vehicle gas system design and operation
- Establishing test campaigns for the qualification and acceptance of COPVs
- Performing tests and reviewing data
- Supporting integration COPVs on the rocket
- Selecting, vetting, and managing vendors
- Performing trade studies to improve gas storage solutions for the near future vehicles
- Assessing long-term COPV design and manufacturing plans
About You:
- Undergraduate degree in engineering or a technical discipline
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience
- Experience applying pressure vessel engineering fundamentals
- Experience applying knowledge of fluid and mechanical system design and operation
Nice to haves, but not required:
- Experience working with COPVs or other composite structures
- Experience in a creative and fast-paced development environment, working with autonomy
- Experience with CAD
- Experience with launch vehicle systems
Hiring Ranges and Leveling:
- Engineer II: $104,000 - $143,000
- Senior Engineer: $148,500 - $181,500
- Staff Engineer: $164,000 - $225,500

The Components team is responsible for all fluid control devices across Terran R, from propulsion to stage systems, enabling a more integrated and informed design approach. Engineers own every aspect of multiple products and integrate with partner teams such as Propulsion, Avionics, and Stage Fluids to ensure their components function seamlessly within the scope of the broader vehicle. With design, manufacturing, and test assets co-located, you’ll see firsthand how your designs perform and can iterate quickly based on real world data. We’re continuously advancing our products, including developing novel clean-sheet designs for upcoming vehicle and engine upgrades, while creatively improving existing designs to enhance performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
About the Role:
In this role you will lead a team of engineers working on valves and accompanying systems through design, development, testing, and production. This role involves a range of skillsets: design, analysis (thermodynamics, structures, fluids, electrical), manufacturing, test, project management, communication, and leadership. You will work across teams and departments and take ownership of projects of your creation. To be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and be capable of leading highly technical and collaborative projects to completion with minimal oversight. Along with these high expectations, this position will involve recruiting, career development, and mentoring engineers.
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
- 5+ years of experience in fluid control devices, valves and/or mechanisms design and analysis
- Proven leadership experience, demonstrated through mentoring, managing complex interdisciplinary projects, supporting continuous improvement of the people around you or participating in growing your team through hiring
- Experience applying engineering fundamentals in thermodynamics, structures, and fluids
- Hands-on experience with fluids and structural development testing and manufacturing
- Experience with ownership of projects from school or work experience
- Experience leading projects or small teams
Nice to haves but not required:
- 5+ years relevant experience, preferably in a rocket engine development and/or test environment
- Experience with the design and manufacturing process of valves, regulators, and actuators, motors, solenoids
- Experience with design and testing of cryogenic systems and components
- Exposure and knowledge in powder bed additive manufacturing
- We believe varied perspectives & backgrounds strengthen our team. Prior experience in aerospace is not required

About the Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for a team of component design engineers. You will apply your leadership skills to create a vision and direction for the team. You will apply your own personal technical experience to guide the designs of every fluid control device on the rocket, and you will create strong working relationships with partner teams, including: Production, Test, and Stage and Propulsion Engineering. Some of the specific tasks you’ll execute are:
- Manage a high-performing team of component design engineers aligned with program milestones
- Define, scope, and schedule required actions to deliver qualified components to the vehicle and engine integration teams
- Establish design requirements to allow for execution aligned with program goals
- To be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and be capable of leading highly technical and collaborative projects to completion with minimal oversight. Along with these high expectations, this position will involve recruiting, career development, and mentoring engineers
- Support your team members to execute engineering tasks such as:
- Design of novel cryogenic, pneumatic, proportional, and/or solenoid valves.
- Perform detailed structural and thermal fluids analysis
- Create and execute development and qualification test plans
- Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to produce parts at rate
About You:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
- 7+ years of experience in fluid control devices, valves and/or mechanisms design and analysis

- Contribute to design and qualification of combustion devices hardware (injectors, thrust chamber, heat exchangers, igniters) through Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis
- Review test and flight data as necessary to evaluate and anchor models
- Interface with hardware designers and utilize thermofluid expertise to influence design decisions
- Develop and recommend analysis approaches that may decrease design iteration time
- A strong commitment to accountability, collaboration, and execution
About you:
- Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field
- 2+ years of experience in performing computation fluid dynamics analyses (employment, internships, project experience)
- Familiar with typical analysis steps including pre/post-processing, meshing, boundary conditions, etc.
- Experience with basic engineering scripting in Python, MATLAB, or similar
- Strong background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer
Nice to haves, but not required:
- We believe varied perspectives & backgrounds strengthen our team. Prior experience in aerospace is not required
- Graduate degree in a science or engineering field
- Experience in Siemens STAR-CCM+
- Working knowledge of rocket engine subsystems, such as combustion devices

- Contribute to design and qualification of combustion devices hardware (injectors, thrust chamber, heat exchangers, igniters) through Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis
- Review test and flight data as necessary to evaluate and anchor models
- Interface with hardware designers and utilize thermofluid expertise to influence design decisions
- Develop and recommend analysis approaches that may decrease design iteration time

The propulsion team at Relativity is responsible for the successful development of the engines that will power the Terran R vehicle. We own their design from concept through to launch and reuse. Our team partners heavily with manufacturing, test, launch, and integration teams, striving to develop our engines in record time and to support Terran R's first launch in 2026. We are looking for a technical expert who can help advance the state of the art of turbine design for space applications. - Responsible for the thermal, structural, dynamic, and durability (fatigue/fracture) analyses on Aeon-R engines and subsystems, to guide design decisions and ensure reliability and performance requirements are met
- Responsible for the analysis of 3D-printed engine components, complex mechanical assemblies, and/or the structural integrity of the fully integrated engine assembly
- Work hand-in-hand with mechanical designers and manufacturing engineers to arrive at optimal solutions for the engine and vehicle programs
- Develop and execute tests to support development and qualification, including hands-on work like test article integration, instrumentation setup, and data processing
About You

About the Role:
This role may span several areas of our team depending on your skillset and the team’s needs at the time. The core technical responsibilities of the role & of your team are driving engine system (architecture + CONOPS) trades, managing engine interfaces & negotiating requirements to optimize for the vehicle, and supporting engine system development overall. You may additionally support engine system analysis and simulation, engine testing, tool development, and more. In engineering at the system level, you will be expected not just to coordinate & facilitate amongst other technical teams, but to bring your own deep technical acumen to bear on problems in this highly technical role – and to coach the folks on your team to do the same.
You will also lead a team of engineers with similar responsibilities as the above. This will require mentorship, project management, establishing priorities, communicating with leadership, providing technical guidance, and recruiting. Leaders at Relativity are expected to be both people leaders & highly technical – you will balance your time between effectively supporting your team’s growth and success at Relativity and making direct technical contributions of your own. You will serve as a mentor to guide the team, but will also learn from peers & mentors of your own within propulsion & the broader company. This role is on the Engine Systems & Test Team. Our work spans simulation & software tools; system-level architecture, requirements, and interfaces; component & integrated system hotfire testing; and more. We collaborate closely with component engineers, our manufacturing team, our Stennis test team, and our Cape launch team to deliver engines that will successfully propel the Terran rocket to orbit. We strive for continuous improvement and support the development of our technical hardware and human teammates alike.
We are hiring for the integrated engine test team (which tests the full engine assembly). Your work may span several different areas depending on your skillset and the team’s needs at the time.
- In the test part of your role, you will serve as a Responsible Engineer for propulsion test articles.
- You will develop test plans in collaboration with product owners, and you will execute test campaigns with our Stennis team, troubleshooting technical puzzles along the way.
- You will own the exploratory operation of new and existing test article designs, diving deep into the evaluation of test hardware behavior in support of continuous engine development and certification.
- This role is extremely varied day-to-day and, in addition to overall campaign ownership, can include writing test sequences, reviewing data, hands-on work with test articles, writing code, sitting console for hotfire tests, designing tooling, and more.
- Most test roles also involve systems work – on this side of your role, you may support engine subsystem troubleshooting, partner team product investigations, engine system analysis and simulation, trade studies, and more.
- You will also take ownership of projects of your creation to increase our collective efficiency.
- As our vehicle development program progresses, you may have the opportunity to be involved in stage test and flight campaigns – including sitting console for launch operations, defining stage test objectives, and defining flight concepts of operations (CONOPS).

About the Team:
The propulsion team at Relativity is responsible for the successful development of the engines that will power the Terran R vehicle. We own their design from concept through to launch and reuse. Our team partners heavily with manufacturing, test, launch, and integration teams, striving to develop our engines in record time and to support Terran R's first launch in 2026. As part of this team, you will help build, test, and iterate on the full product lifecycle of our Aeon-R engine systems, seeing them mature and eventually bring Terran R into space.
About the Role
As a Turbomachinery Engineer, you will develop the assemblies for the fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of the Aeon-R engine family. You will collaborate closely with the propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future designs. In order to be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and is able to drive their own projects to completion. You must have the passion, tenacity and resolve to work through challenging issues unique to rocket turbopumps. We are looking for someone multifaceted, and capable of working at the interfaces of design, development, and analysis of turbomachinery. Ideally, you are someone who has come from a fast paced, aerospace environment, having completed difficult projects while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary groups.
About You
- Degree in engineering or related technical field and 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Ability to perform basic structural, thermal, and/or fluid analysis
- Knowledge of turbomachinery design and analysis practices
- Strong communication skills
- Strong understanding of turbomachinery fundamentals
- Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex turbomachinery operational issues

This role may span several areas of our team depending on your skillset and the team’s needs at the time. The core responsibilities are driving engine system (architecture + CONOPS) trades, managing engine interfaces & negotiating requirements to optimize for the vehicle, and supporting engine system development overall. You may additionally support engine system analysis and simulation, engine testing, tool development, and more. About the Role:
This role is on the Engine Systems & Test Team. Our work spans simulation & software tools; system-level architecture, requirements, and interfaces; component & integrated system hotfire testing; and more. We collaborate closely with component engineers, our manufacturing team, our Stennis test team, and our Cape launch team to deliver engines that will successfully propel the Terran rocket to orbit. We strive for continuous improvement and support the development of our technical hardware and human teammates alike.
We are hiring for the integrated engine test team (which tests the full engine assembly). Your work may span several different areas depending on your skillset and the team’s needs at the time.
- In the test part of your role, you will serve as a Responsible Engineer for propulsion test articles.
- You will develop test plans in collaboration with product owners, and you will execute test campaigns with our Stennis team, troubleshooting technical puzzles along the way.
- You will own the exploratory operation of new and existing test article designs, diving deep into the evaluation of test hardware behavior in support of continuous engine development and certification.
- This role is extremely varied day-to-day and, in addition to overall campaign ownership, can include writing test sequences, reviewing data, hands-on work with test articles, writing code, sitting console for hotfire tests, designing tooling, and more.
- Most test roles also involve systems work – on this side of your role, you may support engine subsystem troubleshooting, partner team product investigations, engine system analysis and simulation, trade studies, and more.
- You will also take ownership of projects of your creation to increase our collective efficiency.
- As our vehicle development program progresses, you may have the opportunity to be involved in stage test and flight campaigns – including sitting console for launch operations, defining stage test objectives, and defining flight concepts of operations (CONOPS).

About the Role:
This role is on the Engine Systems & Test Team. Our work spans simulation & software tools; system-level architecture, requirements, and interfaces; component & integrated system hotfire testing; and more. We collaborate closely with component engineers, our manufacturing team, our Stennis test team, and our Cape launch team to deliver engines that will successfully propel the Terran rocket to orbit. We strive for continuous improvement and support the development of our technical hardware and human teammates alike.
We are hiring for the integrated engine test team (which tests the full engine assembly). Your work may span several different areas depending on your skillset and the team’s needs at the time.
- In the test part of your role, you will serve as a Responsible Engineer for propulsion test articles.
- You will develop test plans in collaboration with product owners, and you will execute test campaigns with our Stennis team, troubleshooting technical puzzles along the way.
- You will own the exploratory operation of new and existing test article designs, diving deep into the evaluation of test hardware behavior in support of continuous engine development and certification.
- This role is extremely varied day-to-day and, in addition to overall campaign ownership, can include writing test sequences, reviewing data, hands-on work with test articles, writing code, sitting console for hotfire tests, designing tooling, and more.
- Most test roles also involve systems work – on this side of your role, you may support engine subsystem troubleshooting, partner team product investigations, engine system analysis and simulation, trade studies, and more.
- You will also take ownership of projects of your creation to increase our collective efficiency.
- As our vehicle development program progresses, you may have the opportunity to be involved in stage test and flight campaigns – including sitting console for launch operations, defining stage test objectives, and defining flight concepts of operations (CONOPS).

Work schedule & travel:
- This role is full-time onsite in Long Beach, CA with an average of 25% travel to our test & launch sites.
- This role may occasionally require weekend work for critical milestones.
- This role requires working shifted schedules (1st and 2nd shift) on a rotating basis
About You:
- We believe varied perspectives & backgrounds strengthen our team. Prior experience in aerospace is not required.
- 5+ years of experience in a complex engineering system development and/or test environment
Bachelor’s degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field - Experience with:
- Applying engineering fundamentals in fluid mechanics & thermodynamics
- Problem-solving
- Working in a collaborative environment
- Demonstrated ability to execute high-ownership projects on ambitious schedules, especially if unconventional solutions are necessary to do so
Nice to haves but not required:
- Exposure to test operations environments
- Working knowledge of at least one of the following: combustion devices, valves, heat exchangers, or instrumentation
