We are looking for a Quantum Error Correction (QEC) Scientist. The role focuses on the theoretical analysis and development of quantum error correction methods and their implications for scalable photonic quantum computing.

The position sits within quantum computing theory, with an emphasis on the conceptual and mathematical aspects of error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of new QEC approaches and help shape directions for error-corrected quantum computing systems.

The role is primarily theoretical and centers on the development of new concepts in quantum error correction. It offers the opportunity to work on fundamental questions in QEC while contributing to the development of large-scale photonic quantum computing architectures.

Key activities include:

• Develop and analyze theoretical approaches to quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation, including logical encodings, logical operations, and structural properties of quantum codes.
• Study quantum codes and fault-tolerant protocols (e.g. logical operators, thresholds, measurement strategies, and resource scaling) and evaluate their role in error-corrected photonic quantum computing architectures.
• Contribute to the theoretical design and analysis of scalable photonic quantum computing architectures, including the integration of quantum error correction into larger computing systems.

We are looking for a candidate with a solid theoretical background and a strong interest in quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation.

Relevant qualifications include:

• A background in quantum computing, quantum error correction, theoretical physics, mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computation, including areas such as stabilizer codes, logical operator structure, decoding methods, threshold analysis, transversal or fault-tolerant gate constructions, topological or LDPC quantum codes, or related theoretical frameworks.
• Familiarity with the quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing literature, or the ability to quickly build a broad overview of the field and identify relevant research directions.
• Analytical and mathematical reasoning skills, including the ability to formulate theoretical questions and reason about abstract structures.
• The ability to read and understand advanced technical literature in quantum computing and related areas.
• Some experience with scientific programming or symbolic computation (e.g. Python, Mathematica, Julia) for exploratory calculations.

Experience with photonic quantum computing, measurement-based quantum computing, or fault-tolerant architecture studies is considered an advantage but is not required.

As a Quantum Hardware Intern / Working Student you support the design, implementation, and scaling of advanced quantum photonic components for our quantum computing systems. You will contribute to experiments on prototype quantum photonic integrated circuits, assist in component and system‑level research, and help ensure reliable hardware integration in our lab environment.

You will work closely with quantum, photonics engineers, and control‑electronics specialists, building and testing optical and quantum‑optical setups around our quantum systems. • Knowledge of integrated photonic components such as ring resonators, MZIs, beam splitters, and waveguide couplers.

Integrated Photonics Team Leader

Optoelectronic Design Engineer

QuiX Quantum is pioneering advancements in photonic quantum computing, a dynamic and rapidly evolving field. Since our founding in 2019, we have achieved world records in quantum photonic processing. As we continue to expand, we're excited to add a Optoelectronic Design Engineer to our team. This flexible, hybrid position requires a minimum of one day in the office each week and offers work locations in Germany or the Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Photonic and Optoelectronic Design:
  • Design and simulate photonic components using tools like Lumerical.
  • Design and simulate electro-optic (EO) modulators and associated photonic devices, including material-specific considerations.
  • Model electrical cross-talk and optimize electronic-photonic integration.
  • Develop RF back-end-of-line (BEOL) stack designs, focusing on signal integrity and minimal loss.

• Development and Automation:
  • Develop photonic-integrated-circuit (PIC) layouts in IPKISS, GdsFactory, or similar tools.
  • Support internal process-design-kit (PDK) development and maintenance.
  • Automate and script simulations with Python or similar languages.
  • Collaborate with team members using Git for code management.
  • Integrate photonic designs into system architecture.

Required Qualifications:

• MSc in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or related; PhD preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in photonic and optoelectronic design, preferably in industry (academic research considered)
• Proficiency with EO material design and simulation.
• Experience in Lumerical and PIC layout tools (eg. IPKISS, GdsFactory).
• Strong Python skills and experience with Git.
• Proficiency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Lumerical API, PDK development and quantum integrated photonics.
• Expertise in EO materials, electrical cross-talk modeling, and RF BEOL stack design
• Knowledge of hybrid platforms such as Silicon Nitride and Lithium Niobate, particularly for scalable PIC designs.
